At least 7 (seven) members of the Panel on COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines, including 2 out of 3 Co-Chairs, have not disclosed their financial ties to Gilead Sciences (GILD), the patent owner and manufacturer of remdesivir.
Under the direction of WHO, Remdesivir is being tested as an alternative treatment to COVID-19. Currently, COVID-19 is treated by hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with or without azithromycin (AZ).
Nine members of the Panel tasked with determining acceptable COVID-19 treatments have disclosed financial ties to Gilead, the manufacturer of Remdesivir. However, at least 7 other members failed to disclose their financial ties to Gilead and a number of other panel members appear to have links to Gilead that require no disclosure. Together, Gilead-linked individuals made up a majority of this panel.
This might explain why the panel recommended against a HCQ+AZ combination, refused to recommend HCQ (insufficient clinical data to recommend either for or against) and raised fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) about it. The Panel gave the same grade (but without FUD) to Remdesivir, though no clinical data existed for its use againstCOVID-19.
The list of the Panel members who have not disclosed their financial ties to Gilead is below. This is not an accusation against these individuals. The reporting period of Gilead ties was set to a mere 11 months (May 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020) and the last three weeks were excluded. The Guidelines were published on April 21 and already caused damage to the ongoing COVID-19 treatment.
(*) Also, Jeffrey L. Lennox disclosed in 2009 that he has been an investigator for Abbott, Gilead Sciences, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Pfizer, Schering, and Tibotec; a paid consultant for Abbott, Gilead Sciences, Merck, Pfizer, Roche, and Tibotec; and a paid speaker for Abbott, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gilead Sciences, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Roche, and Tibotec.

MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ASSAULT ON HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE:
2020-04-27 update: Yes, it did. Most members of the COVID-19 Treatment Panel had ties to Gilead.
Gilead Sciences (GILD, market cap 104B) is the manufacturer and owner of patents for Remdesivir. Remdesivir is competing with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) as a COVID-19 treatment, although more expensive, less tested, and, apparently, less efficient. HCQ is a generic drug with very low profit margins.
9 out of 50 members on the Panel for COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines disclosed that they had financial ties to Gilead from May 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020. The reporting period surprisingly covered only 10 short months, and ended three weeks before publication of the report.`So any financial ties (and there are many) that predated this 10 month period, were not disclosed.
Also, lets look at how flattering the fake news media and Google are to Gilead and Remdesivir:

and compare this with the coverage of HCQ:

All searches performed in a browser with a clean state, in Texas, on April 23, at approximately 11 am.

Assault on Hydroxychloroquine
My article Pseudo-Science behind the Assault on Hydroxychloroquine has been published in WUWT. Some points from it:
- Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ)-based treatments are effective for COVID-19, unless started too late.
- There are a couple of borderline fraudulent pre-prints, trying to cast doubt on that, and they are endlessly cited in the media. Then there are a couple of serious studies, which are misinterpreted not only by the media, but by NIH and FDA as well
- Severe COVID-19 frequently causes cardiac effects, including heart arrhythmia. This is not a fault of HCQ.
- Millions of people regularly take drugs causing QTc prolongation, which might increase risk of heart arrhythmia and even cardiac in for COVID-19 patients with other risk factors.
To be effective, Hydroxychloroquine + Zinc/Azithromycin treatment should start as soon as possible when COVID-19 symptoms appear. This is based on the CDC advice on other antiviral drugs‘ use against common flu: “Studies show that flu antiviral drugs work best for treatment when they are started within two days of getting sick.” The window of opportunity might be even shorter for HCQ.
The states that made it difficult and time consuming to obtain HCQ made the treatment less effective.
Fauci-touted Remdisivir is good for nothing. “Remdesivir is not yet licensed or approved anywhere globally and has not been demonstrated to be safe or effective for any use” – from Drugs.com. The number of people that can be treated with it is close to 0. This is why it received the orphan drug status. Also, it is very expensive to manufacture. Development of Remdesivir started in 2009, and it is an ultimate ObamaDrug: useless, expensive, and promoted by fraudd and abuse of power.

9 have disclosed, 7 have not. Exactly how many members are on this panel?

I wrote this the other day on a thread discussing the side effects of Remdesivir:
One would be willing to put up with those side effects in the event of three things:
- It was a wonder drug that would fix you 70% of the time
- The pathogen had a 40% mortality rate like the Plague.
- You are sick, getting worse, and the cheap drug did not work.
Otherwise, one has to wonder why a drug Remdesivir that shows a 30% success rate (last I heard) but has a 50% chance of serious complications or possibly permanent organ damage would even be considered.

I've been asking why "experts" are so enamored by reducing virus duration from 15 days to 11 days, when the HCQ protocol eliminates symptoms within several hours?
I'm not judging how long you might be contagious or test positive.
If I've caught it, suffered, and now the symptoms are gone....I'm a happy camper.
Tough concept for the get rich quick crowd!

Exactly how many members are on this panel? Looks like it was created with 33 counting the co-chairs.
As tenuous as some of these connections to Gilead are, including simple conference participation, having half with some tie to them isnt surprising.

You can get the natural version of quinine from cinchona tree bark, just like you can get the natural version of aspirin from willow tree bark, legally. I can see why people also use quinine for muscle cramps, it is a muscle relaxant. I find that you can feel that affect from one teaspoon of the bark powder.

Nine members of the Panel tasked with determining acceptable COVID-19 treatments have disclosed financial ties to Gilead, the manufacturer of Remdesivir. THIS should have been included in the headline rather than the 7 who did not disclose, one way or the other. Very poorly written.
One has to read quite a bit to find that there are 50 total panel members. Again, this is something which needed to be up front.

you gotta be careful about not taking too much and overdosing- it can cause permanent damage or even life threatening reaction- unlikely, but just know that it can-

Quinine affects the heart. I wouldn’t be taking OTC quinine without a doctor’s approval. IMHO :)

No thanks. I haven’t seen one of those idiots since 1974, and that was work related. Add up what the doctors do, prescription drugs, hospital mistakes and their infection incubator facilities, and you have one of the highest causes of death in this country. Why people trust what that industry has to say and the false information they put out is beyond me. If they were auto mechanics they would be in jail.
