WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials believe China covered up the extent of the coronavirus outbreak — and how contagious the disease is — to stock up on medical supplies needed to respond to it, intelligence documents show.
Chinese leaders “intentionally concealed the severity” of the pandemic from the world in early January, according to a four-page Department of Homeland Security report dated May 1 and obtained by The Associated Press. The revelation comes as the Trump administration has intensified its criticism of China, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying Sunday that China was responsible for the spread of disease and must be held accountable.
The sharper rhetoric against China coincides with administration critics saying the government’s response to the virus was inadequate and slow. President Donald Trump’s political opponents have accused the president and his administration of lashing out at China, a geopolitical foe but critical U.S. trade partner, in an attempt to deflect criticism at home.
The analysis states that, while downplaying the severity of the coronavirus, China increased imports and decreased exports of medical supplies. It attempted to cover up doing so by “denying there were export restrictions and obfuscating and delaying provision of its trade data,” the analysis states.

One fallout of this will be my personal quest to buy nothing from China that I can avoid. It won’t be perfect but the intent will be there. I know, I know. Many Chinese companies have fronts in the US to claim Made In USA but I will still do the best I can. Like Levi’s, Dicks Sporting Goods, Gieco insurance I will attempt to only buy things that are not made in China.
I think the fact that China did NOT allow any flights from Wuhan to other parts of China but DID allow flights from Wuhan to go all over the freakin world proves that what China did was deliberate..They could have ended this on the very first day, no one around the world had to die..if China had stopped this day 1 they would have been heroes, but instead they allowed their people to travel worldwide by the MILLIONS, infecting anyone in their path, absolutely deliberate mass murder

In early January there were 44 cases. I remember hearing about this at the time so it wasn’t concealed very well.
The communists refused to let our scientists in and we could have gotten a jump start on studying this new virus.

One area to be aware of is over 90% of our seafood is imported. Much of it from China. Check the back of the packages of fish and shrimp in the grocery store for country of origin. Also, all you restaurant owners please try and transition away from imported Chinese product. Demand American caught seafood. Yes, it’s going to be more expensive.
I think you are right. They made damn sure the rest of the world got this while they protected the rest of China.
I don't buy it because the Chi-Coms were making too much money and military advancements with their unfair trade. Why would they kill the "golden goose", America and other traders? That makes no sense, especially since some Western scientists had seen and reported the lax procedures in a supposedly P-4 lab a couple years back.

Yep it will be far from perfect for a number of years. Only Trump can make it better. Meantime only buy electronics from the Samsung’s, LG, Sony or Visio’s of the world. Yes it will still be made in China in likelihood but profits in theory will not stay in China. Just say no to the TCL and Hisense branded crap.
