Heartland power: 90% of farmers back Trump
The Washington Times ^ | 05/02/2020 | Jennifer Harper

Posted on 05/02/2020 6:24:09 PM PDT by Kevin in California

Many have pondered President Trump’s grassroots support in the nation’s heartland. Democrats, in fact, still marvel — or worry about — the 63 million folks who stood up and went to the polls in 2016 and voted for Mr. Trump. It appears they are still out there, and still support the president in a big way. Though the nation’s farmers are understandably fretting about their business outcomes, like most folks around America. But pessimism is not affecting their support for Mr. Trump, according to DTN, a Minneapolis-based research and marketing firm specializing in agriculture, livestock, crops and other related fields. “While farmers’ confidence is waning in their current and future situations, it is not lessening their support for the current administration. When asked, 90% of farmers polled by DTN said they would vote to keep the current administration, an increase of 15 percentage points from the same survey conducted in December 2019,” the organization says. “It’s interesting to note that through these challenging times, farmer support for President Trump is at an all-time high. We are seeing that farmers approve of how the current administration is handling the pandemic and its resulting effect on the economy with the recently announced aid packages being distributed to farmers,” says John Teeple, senior vice president of agriculture at DTN.

My brother is a corn and soybean farmer and cattle rancher in Central Nebraska. He voted for President Trump. His wife and daughter, however, are devout liberals. I don’t understand how, but they are.

It has all to do with ethanol rather than feeding the world and livestock.

My wife and I live in the exoburbs. My term for the outer suburbs that border farm and ranch lands. As such, we know a good many farmers and ranchers. And, my personal experience matches this survey.
That said, the ten percent who don’t like President Trump are vehement anti-Trumpers. TDS on steroids. And, of course, the local “news”papers know who they are and they get the lions share of coverage by the local media.
The aim of that is to give a false impression of the Presidents support among that group.

Women are genetically programmed to be extremely susceptible to all liberal strategies and policies designed to elicit feelings of empathy, and will therefore oppose any policies that appear to be devoid of such empathy.

Farmers tend to be very conservative people.
Conservative, wise and hard working.

I know. I have the same conflict. I talk things about issues far and wide and we always seem to generally agree but.....The left has a choke hold on people that will never let go. If what is going on with this Corona crap is not a lesson to our side and their side,I don't know what is. Our side is tepid but their side is a raging river.

Aren’t they supposed to hate him because his tariffs keep them from selling food to the Chicoms, or something?

AND they take voting seriously. It’s a priority not like on the coasts where wee willie winkie says “I’ll vote if I get around to it.”

Nothing like redistributing around $28B of other American consumers’ bucks to improve your popularity.

Didn’t work on me, thankfully.

However, it did work on pretty much all of my friends from high school, including my ex. All but maybe two are men, and that’s well over two dozen people.

Liberalism really does get its claws into people, and I personally don’t see the allure.
