Surgeon General Jerome Adams Tuesday doubled down on his advice against healthy people wearing face masks to protect themselves from coronavirus, saying that wearing one improperly can "actually increase your risk" of getting the disease.

Oh well.
First statement: Masks are bad.
Second statement: Masks are good.
Third (current) statement: Masks are bad (again).
Any chance this is an exercise/experiment so they can figure out how willing the sheeple are to jump through hoops?
Totally insane.
That example the doctor gave is so interesting. I love info like that, whether virus related or not.
“Basically if light shines through your mask, the virus can easily get through as well.”
Even though I don’t wear them (except once when required to see my surgeon), I’ve been making masks for family and friends. I didn’t know that about light shining through, but had been using that as a kind of standard. I tried several patterns, but the one that was easiest, fit the best, and seemed the safest, had a pocket to insert a filter like paper towel (which is supposed to be excellent) or coffee filter.
Thanks for the info
“If one is wearing a mask, it doesnt spread as far. Mask wearing is like covering your face with a tissue when you sneeze or cough.”
Gross. If you sneeze or cough with a non-medical grade mask on, where’s it’s gonna go? Your eyes, for one place. Even the little metal nose thingies in masks won’t keep that from happening. Seems that sneezing/coughing in the crook of your elbow might be more effective.
But who knows? Even the Surgeon General apparently doesn’t know.
“I noticed when I shop that about half of the people are wearing masks. There is a real unfriendliness about it... kind of like we view each other as enemies.”
You’re right. With masks, we become freakish non-people.
From the current issue of “Imprimis” from Hillsdale College:
“it is offensive when any member of our government, expert or not, addresses us chiefly as carriers of a pathogen”
“Hes right.”
You’re correct; he is/was right. But which time was he right? Mask? No mask?
Trump should’ve chosen a serious person as Surgeon General. I think Carson would’ve been better utilized in that position than at HUD.
“They also increase the risk of looking like a freaking Communist tool.”
In other words, they have succeeded in their experiment to see how easy it’ll be next time to get the peons in line.
How do you tell the difference between people wearing a mask? For example, how about someone who is recommended to wear a mask because of going through chemo?
Are they non-people? Obviously, not everyone wearing a mask is going through chemo. But some of the broad brush statements about masks is pretty disappointing.
People will wear a mask for a variety of reasons. The best hope is that people make a decision on to wear/not wear a mask after doing some research. Once they make that decision, people should just carry on.
“He’s a liar”
I recall Tucker’s show a few weeks ago talking about face masks, right after Adams said masks don’t work. Tucker’s catch line was, “STOP LYING TO US!” Since Adams changes his spiel often, WHEN is he lying and when is he not?
USA, Taiwan, S. Korea, Japan.
What is the deaths/million figure for Wuhan, China? China seems to be the most mask-wearing group in the world. What is THAT number? (Of course, it’s impossible to come up with a response, as China lies about everything, including the number of deaths.)
“Really, people, this is not rocket science.”
Hubby IS a “rocket scientist”; he won’t wear one.
Did you see the pic of Steny Hoyer and his mask? One elastic around one ear, and the mask hanging straight down to his shoulder. So funny.
Of course, that crowed has been pumped so full of HCQ they’ll never get sick, and their masks are jokes.
“I dont know why so many are so ... resistant to wearing a mask. Perhaps because they are being told they ‘have’ to, and resent being told what to do?”
That’s definitely part of it — at least it is for me. If there were actual proof that mask wearing is effective I’d do it. If WuFlu were ebola-like instead of flu-ish, I’d do it. But simply being part of a government social experiment? — uh uh.
Common sense a highly under rated characteristic would tell you that two people wearing surgical masks are much less likely to swap germs than two people not wearing masks. Of course masks are helpful.
In Maine, we are required to wear cloth, washable masks. I bet more people get sick that are prevented from getting sick. Nobody is going to die, but some people will wear dirty masks and increase their own bacteria and virus load.
“how about someone who is recommended to wear a mask because of going through chemo?”
A ridiculous question. Of COURSE those people should wear masks, as should elderly, and everyone in at-risk categories if they think they should.
But when the entire population is zombie-ing around everywhere, it’s commie weird. If they come up with actual proof that it’s necessary, then OK. But if masks were proven to be effective and necessary, these threads wouldn’t even exist because there’d be no question.
We have been taking D3 and K2. Also drinking the airborne vitamin C with zinc. I know there is a lot of exaggeration in the numbers but covid-19 is still quite a serious disease to those with impairments. Diabetes, COPD, and other health issues
