Coronavirus In Brazil Leads To Mass Graves, Fears Country Could Become Worst-Hit In World: 'We Are In A State Of Utter Disaster'

“What we are seeing are scenes from a horror movie."

Those words came from Artur Virgilio, the mayor of Manaus, about the coronavirus crisis developing in the middle of the Amazon rainforest in northern Brazil.

The city had a record number of burials in April -- about 100 a day, or triple the average -- forcing authorities to do many en masse in improvised cemeteries.

“We aren’t in a state of emergency. We are in a state of utter disaster, like a country that is at war but has already lost," Virgilio said.

The city's public health system has already collapsed, with 100% of intensive-care beds occupied and hundreds of people left untreated.

Relatives of victims report that burials have been carried out collectively, with some people left not knowing if their loved one was, in fact, buried.

In some cases, corpses were placed on top of each other in graves, according to reports. The official cause of death is often listed as "unknown" or "severe acute respiratory failure," which experts say is contributing to a massive under-count of coronavirus cases.

Between April 21 and April 28, the government reported 118 confirmed coronavirus deaths in Manaus. But in that same week, more than 200 people were buried due without a determined cause of death, in addition to 395 due to respiratory failure or suspected coronavirus.

According to one projection, the number of burials in Manaus may reach 4,200 later this month..

The crisis in Manaus could be a sign of things to come for the whole country.

Although conditions in São Paulo, the largest city in South America, and Rio de Janeiro, are not as dire, experts warn that the country faces a coronavirus surge similar to those that devasted Italy, Spain and parts of the United States.

I just checked “Worldometer,” and Brazil so far has about 6,400 CV deaths. This article makes it sound like there are half that many in this one town.

Brazil is a country heavily depending on Vladimir Zelenko’s Hydroxychloroquine regimen. Zelenko reported that initially Brazil was using heavy doses of Chloroquine and had many deaths do to side affects. That was either on Newsmax’s or Dennis Pragor’s interviews. This is most likely the reason behind the false news.

Brazil’s reporting of deaths is exact with its world class hospitals throughout the country.

Weather in Manaus, location of article, is either very warm or extremely warm, no matter the season. It does have a higher population of indigenous or isolated people with possibly lower immunities. And lastly, Northern Brazil is very leftist and desire to remove existing government....

Give it a few weeks and Brazil will be mostly done with it. Two months tops.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old fart’s life, it's worth it.

they’re beating the drums for a mass vaccination policy come the fall. On behalf of some globalist or another somewhere who’s dispensing enough dollars in their direction.

The globalists can hardly wait to ranch us and farm us all

Also, I want to say that I worked in a the ultimate social situation, as a shuttle driver for a DFW airport(I believe the 8th busiest in the world) hotel and I drove people from all around the world, even from China, from November to early April. I have kept up with my co-workers and everybody feels fine.

I have a couple of friends in their 60's and they are basically in the fetal position about this, and won't go out till 2025.

I say poopycock, and I know many freepers are scared and are "elderly", but that is no reason to become"fearpers".

Remember it’s winter there now, May to August, as they are in the southern hemisphere.

Remember, Brazil straddles the equator. Northern Brazil, where this panic stricken pearl clutching mayor lives is darned near on the equator, not much winter cold there. I'd venture it hasn't snowed there in at least 12,000 years.

Nearly all of the rest of Brazil is is above the Tropic of Capricorn. Not much winter in the tropics, although high mountains can get quite cold.

But thanks for playing...

Manaus hosted some World Cup games in 2014. The US played there, all the players hated playing there.

It’s funny how this illness has become like every other argument. Everyone has staked out their positions and there is no more thinking, just insistence that they are right.

Hot and humid sustains the virus. Dry and sunny would tend to denature it.

Its so very true what you wrote. I'm trying to figure out for myself just how off the models from the acutal were and work through the chronology.

Intrinsic in the applied solution (shutdown) is the paradox of the impossibility of proving a negative. If the Wuhan was as bad as advertised and we did effectively combat it via the shutdown then lots of people who would have gotten sick didn't but how do you prove that? Its like crimes that didn't happen because of the would be victim used a gun, kinda like that -anyhow.

I do know the the effects of all this both the pandemic and the shutdown have had real effects and presented us all with unique challenges most haven't ever considered.

The whole red team blue team thing at all levels of this makes a confusing and difficult set of things even more unfathomable. Especially if the pathogen deserved the level of mitigation the world has attempted to exercise. I've been on calls with then co-workers all over the global - It seemed to me as though the concern was warranted. Watching the daily briefings was both encouraging that pragmatic solutions were being implemented and disgusting in how the media was still engaged in the daily DC soap opera.

You can have your conformation bias served up to in so many different ways to make your thinking fit reality in ways that justify your existing political proclivities.

Also there is the challenge of re-engaging the economy at full capacity again - perhaps its all there in Locke or Burke but it seems rather complex and regional to me.

So many levels of fear and prejudices to exploit its a poop crap stack - on top of itself, unless one makes a deliberate attempt to try to look at things objectively with the hindsight of history - no argument from an outside influence is going to convince people or at least most

And you quote a godless Ayn Rand, even Ayn, if she were alive today would mock the current situation.

Whatever fearper.

RE: Brazil is a country heavily depending on Vladimir Zelenko’s Hydroxychloroquine regimen.

If Hydroxychloroquine does work as a prophylaxis, I would expect them to be giving it to their citizens. Either they did and it doesn’t work, or they did not ( that is, if the alarming numbers in this article are believable ).
