A couple of thoughts. First, Biden will not be the Democratic candidate. Second, although it is not Trump's fault, the President is going to face an uphill reelection battle with 10% plus unemployment and at best stagnant GNP. We can whistle past the graveyard all we want and scream fake news all day, but as snakehead Carville said back in 1992, "it is the economy, stupid."

Yes, "it's the economy stupid". One candidate made the economy great. I think the voters will think he can do it again.

Simple message. We did it once we’ll do it again. Feb of this year was the best economy we have see. Since the post WWII economy. No voter is going to ignore that Covid lead to difficult decisions. If people want the jobs and earnings back like they had this calendar year, Trump is the only option.

Will people blame the economic hard times on Trump? Would they really think that Biden or another Democrat will somehow restore the economy????

"it is the economy, stupid."

Except all but the most brain-dead Dems realize this economy is not Trump's fault. Trump should - and will - run on a platform of, "hey, I brought back a sagging economy once, I can do it again."

Biden will not be the Democratic candidate.

If he has enough committed delegates for a first ballot win, which he will, the only way he wouldn't be the candidate, assuming he doesn't die or become incapacitated, is if he withdraws. That ain't happening.

Very true about “It’s the economy, stupid” — but back in the Creepy Carville days (Clinton vs. GHWB), the problems with the economy were pinned on GHWB and his “read my lips, no new taxes” pledge.

I tend to think most people accept the fact that the Coronavirus economic damage is NOT Trump’s fault. So even if there is 10% unemployment on Nov 3rd, it won’t hurt his chances.

As we go into November, it seems more likely that people [who aren’t hateful devout Democrats] won’t want to “change horses in the middle of the race” against the coronavirus.
