Either way, officially homeschool, and join HSLDA when you do it, and at least you’ll have some recourse when the school Nazi’s come knocking.

Yes, joining HSLDA is a must. They helped us out back in our days of homeschooling and it’s a small price you pay (membership) vs what a family might incur should their case end up in court.
