Huntington Beach votes to challenge Newsom’s order closing O.C. beaches...

Hours after Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered all Orange County beaches to close, the Huntington Beach City Council voted Thursday evening to challenge the directive.

After meeting in closed session to discuss the measure, the council voted 5-2 to “take any legal action to challenge the governor’s executive order,” City Attorney Michael Gates said. The two dissenting votes came from council members Barbara Delgleize and Kim Carr.

Huntington Beach Mayor Lyn Semeta said the city hopes to get an injunction soon, but it will close its beaches in the meantime.

“We’re very concerned about if we happen to be the only Orange County beach open at that point,” she said. “That would be very difficult on our marine safety officers.”

Huntington Beach leaders aren’t the only ones in Orange County at odds with the governor’s decision.

The Newport Beach City Council — which voted Tuesday to keep its beaches open — plans to meet this weekend to discuss a similar challenge to the directive.

Good luck with the lawsuit...

I hope that HB's lawsuit wins...

But, some judge might rule for Governor Gavin...Stating that he has emergency powers to do virtually anything he wants at this time...

I listened to KFI on radio today...John and Ken Show...They called Governor Gavin an "emperor"... I think calling him an emperor may not be a bad idea...He certainly acts as if he is the emperor of California...I think he really felt disrespected when many people showed up to the beach...Therefore, he had to let people know that he is the boss...

Emperor Gavin was upset that most people, on Huntington Beach sands, did not practice social distancing...Local officials stated that most people did practice social distancing...I will go along with local officials...

What was Emperor Gavin expecting? 100% of people should practice social distancing at the beach? It is not easy to make 100% of people act the certain way...He needs to calm down...

Huntington Beach is represented in Congress by a Democrat...He beat Dana Rohrabacher...He released a statement. First, he praised Governor for doing a good job. But, he stated that Governor went too far with his decision to close beaches...

They need to create sanctuary beaches then the laws won’t apply to them.

Bravo to dear Surf City!!! And I hope they get a good judge. And a stay of order temporarily. And that the protest rallies go well tomorrow.

I hate Newsom. And I am not alone. If this shmuck want to be president he Might start looking at actual voters. His beloved homeless, illegals, and convicted sex offenders don’t vote much.

Omg. It’s genius. Sanctuary beaches. For all the taxpayers who support California but find themselves “affected by beachlessness” (mocking the expression “those affected by homelessness”)!

A lawsuit ? Yep that is what is considered sane. Why not let the People decide ? Guess that’s considered too dangerous to allow the People the decision of going to the beach or not.

Having encouraged selective law breaking thru permitting sanctuary cities, Newsom has no standing to halt cities that break his dictates.

I wonder if I should go to the restroom ? Maybe I should allow the government to vote on having a video camera in my bedroom ? Today politicians fight over whether or not a Citizen may go to the beach. Tomorrow restroom (oops they already voted on that) and camera in one’s bedroom ..... more than likely the politicians have already shown up there running their cameras .... and I still can’t go to the beach but I can be told I cannot go to the beach and I’ll be arrested if I do go to the beach. Yep isn’t socialism wonderful ???

It would be great if many people showed up to beaches in San Diego County and Ventura County this weekend...

Then Governor Gavin will really get mad...He will then announce closure of all the beaches...
Then more people would agree with me that he is a control freak...

More lawsuits! That might just get someone’s attention. I would start a petition over in Sunova Beach, if I lived there.

For the 1 in a 100 that doesn’t know it, Gov Newsome is Nancy Pelosi’s nephew. Now his actions make more sense.
