Canada's government is set to announce a ban on assault-style weapons following a deadly shooting in Nova Scotia this month that killed 22 people.
Officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's administration will announce the ban before the week's end, though the key provisions have already been decided by his Cabinet.
Among the weapons set to be banned include the AR-15 and the Ruger Mini-14. It wasn't initially clear whether Canadian citizens who currently own such weapons will be required to turn them in.

This is the equivalent of not allowing sober people to own cars because a few drunk drivers kill people each year.
They are banning the range rifle? Or just the scary looking black one?
Yeah, that’s the thing about the gun-grabbers. Most couldn’t give you the definition of an assault rifle if it bit them in the butt.

Although the Nova Scotia killer used a common shotgun and a handgun he stole from an RCMP officer he killed with the shotgun, not any kind of “assault rifle”. But the Canadian government would never let actual facts interfere with the agenda of oppressing their citizens.

They’re now saying he used “several handguns and two semiautomatic rifles” — it sounds like at least one of the rifles was taken from the vehicle of the RCMP officer he killed.
I never put salt on my guns. *bada*boom*kisk*
So they should ban Canadian police from having those rifles....after all, people could steal them!
The key word is style. Looks dangerous. Maybe we should rename AR-15s, La pacific persusion and paint them pink and yellow.

You can bet that if he had used an “assault rifle” he owned, you’d know all about it in great detail. They’re dissembling because they can’t use it for political points.

What the “H” does “assault-style” mean? As others have pointed out, assault is a behavior, not a cosmetic feature. The term is factually meaningless.
