RE: 65000 Italians were on hydroxychloroquine for lupus or rheumatoid arthritis before the virus hit there. Only twenty contracted the virus and none were hospitalized or died.

This study finds the same results with a much smaller sample size.
The bottom line is that hydroxychloroquine is much better as a prophylaxis than as a treatment for people who have already contracted the disease.
And if you read way back, that was reported in late 2019 early January of this year by the cruise ships.
