Plus, Pence himself said this before his wife stepped in it:
"When the CDC issued guidelines about wearing a mask, it was their recognition that people that may have the coronavirus could prevent the possibility of conveying the virus to someone else by wearing a mask," he said.
"And since I don't have the coronavirus, I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to be here, to be able to speak to these researchers, these incredible healthcare personnel, and look them in the eye and say thank you."
So he clearly understood but made the decision that he didnt think he needed to wear one.
But does wearing a mask makes it impossible to look people in the eye? Those people he was looking in the eye were all wearing masks. VP Pence and his wife also said he was regularly tested (at least once a week). But do they not understand that being tested does not give one immunity nor does being tested regularly guarantee that one hasnt become infected after their last test?
It was an unnecessary mistake on the part of Pence and his team. No admittedly it will be gone in a day or two but I doubt it will be the last blunder the campaign makes.
