TEXANS HELPING TEXANS, The Governors Report to OPEN TEXAS
The Governor's Strike Force to Open Texas ^ | April 27, 2020 | Texa Governor Greg Abbott

Posted on 04/30/2020 6:27:47 AM PDT by Texas Fossil

Texans are battling a colossal challenge—an invisible enemy that has tested our lives and our livelihoods—but overcoming challenges is part of who we are as Texans.

We have shown that Texas can continue our efforts to contain COVID-19 while also adhering to safe standards that will allow us to begin the process of opening this great state.

The Strike Force to Open Texas brings together nationally recognized medical experts with public- and private-sector business leaders to help achieve this mission.

But it will take more than experts to win this battle for our families, for our community, and for this great state.

We are each called upon to be Texans: to act responsibly as we re-engage in the economy, to continue following all health precautions and sanitizing guidelines, and to care for our vulnerable neighbors. Lives depend on our actions. I know you will respond as Texans.

That is why we are first and foremost focusing on protecting the most vulnerable among us, on nursing home mitigation measures, on ramping up testing, and on scaling up contact tracing of the unseen enemy.

We will be measured and cautious. Only with your help and with all of these measures in place can we begin to open businesses with careful adherence to health protocols.

By coming together, we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we can get Texas back to work.

With Texans helping Texans, we can overcome any challenge.

Governor Greg Abbott

This is a lengthy document. A lot of thought has gone into it. It is a 66 page .pdf report.

A lot rides on how we move from cowering in the corner to getting back to living a normal life.

May God continue to Bless Texas. And God Bless the USA.

Only thing worth reading from Wimpy Abbott is a resignation letter.

Found the link problem. The email link had a period after the correct link.

Corrected link is:

You obviously did not read a word of the actual .pdf document. Because my link, copied from an email, had a trailing . (period) in the link name.

Have a good day.

Texans don’t need a 66-page document to tell us how to restart the economy. Marketplace forces and common sense will take care of that. And we don’t need any more pep rallies telling what good little soldiers we have been in this war. Gubmint needs to get the heck out of the way.

This is actually a pretty good document, it is a lot less directive and more focused on providing and explaining recommendations. Gov. Abbott, unlike his peers in NY, MI, CA, etc... is working to find ways to get the economy up and running instead of justifying restrictions.

A big step in the right direction.

Savage, I agree with your common sense point. However, we only need to overlay a Chicom infection map with a county red/blue voting map to see that the biggest viral infection rates are in the areas ruled by those sans common sense. Hence a need for a statement "from the top."

There are already officials in Houston and Dallas balking and wanting to stay closed for much longer. Common sense doesn't come into play with them. I expect to see legal challenges to opening up but these instructions spell out what needs to be done.

I'm just thankful to live in a rural county where most people used common sense. Most businesses stayed open, people gave business to closed restaurants with take out, we checked up on neighbors, etc. There were 10 cases reported here and all in people who worked/traveled to high infection places.

Thanks Fossil for pinging the PDF.

My pleasure.

Wished it was moving faster, but they are erring on the side of caution.

I live in a place that there are Zero cases in the county.

Life has been pretty normal except some businesses are closed.
