Oil prices surged for a third straight day Thursday amid evidence that fuel demand is starting to return, compounding the benefit from production cuts by the worlds largest producers starting on May 1.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil, the U.S. benchmark, was trading up 17 percent at $17.65 per barrel while Brent crude oil, the international benchmark, was higher by 13 percent at $25.43 per barrel.
The energy components fell 75 percent and 65 percent, respectively, this year through Wednesday.

If I can add to this another recent trend that I’d really like to see cut out like the cancer it is: Somewhere along the line, I apparently missed the memo that everyone you meet has both the right and expectation to be on instant, first-name basis with you.
When even spam ad-email is addressed to you as: “Hello, (your first name)!”
Yeah, well just like someone deliberately using your entire name as a form of address only means that you’re in some kind of trouble, if anyone OTHER than a best friend or a lover addresses me that way, I instantly want to hide my wallet...
