California Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to announce a new order Thursday closing all of the state’s beaches, effective Friday, according to a memo distributed to the membership of the California Police Chiefs’ Association.
The memo, which was issued Thursday, described the anticipated order as a response to scenes of crowded coastlines seen last weekend.
“After the well-publicized media coverage of overcrowded beaches this past weekend, in violation of Governor Newsom’s Shelter in Place Order, the Governor will be announcing tomorrow that ALL beaches and all state parks in California will be closed, effective Friday, May 1,” according to the memo. State Parks personnel were expected to assist with enforcement.
The League of California Cities and California State Association of Counties had been informed of the plan, the memo stated.
Beaches have been a source of controversy lately, as a heat wave in Southern California has tempted residents to visit the coast, despite stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines meant to stem the spread of COVID-19.
While all state-operated beaches have already been closed, many different cities and counties have dealt with their beaches in differing ways.
While Los Angeles County beaches have been off-limits for weeks, people were allowed to visit the waves at Ventura County beaches last weekend
And some cities, such as Newport Beach in Orange County, have elected to open their local beaches.
The governor’s press office did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation Wednesday evening.
Are you going to close the beaches until end of October? Governor Gavin? Next six months? Are you going to cancel US Open of Surfing on August 1? It will be held in Huntington Beach...
How about mosques too? Anyone know if they are still open in California?

Gruesome Newsome’s marching orders from the DNC are clear and unambiguous: In order to win the DNC’s imprimatur for the 2024 presidential election, he must keep California closed down as much as possible for as long as possible through October to hurt Trump (people’s lives, the economy and America’s social fabric be damned). The boy is just following orders even though it means hurting and killing real people.
Personally, I doubt if they have enough police to enforce this, and if they do attempt to enforce it with physical efforts....cameras will capture the episodes, and trigger literally hundreds of lawsuits about physical violence by the police. Just in a single week....you could be talking about 10-billion dollars for lawyers to claim from the state and local authority.
Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner said in a statement he believes Newsom has the power to close beaches in the county, but “it is not wise to do so.”
He said Orange County residents have been cooperative with state and county restrictions.
“I fear that this overreaction from the state will undermine that cooperative attitude and our collective efforts to fight the disease, based on the best available medical information,” his statement said.

This isn’t New York. Covid numbers are low here. Everyone is fed up with house arrest. There aren’t enough cops in the whole state to enforce a beach ban.

So, this is about control - not public safety.
I don’t know for sure, but from all the other things we have seen, I would suspect mosques are not affected by lockdowns or social distancing, or any other circumstances.
We were warned BEFORE this virus hit that our flu season this year was going to be horrible THEN POOF no flu cases at all what the hell happened to the absolutely horrible flu season??
So, this is about control - not public safety.

Have these rabid policy makers given one sentence justifying these closures? We would like to know.
