On Tuesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that workplaces with “high risk” of infection, including salons, will have to wait “months, not weeks” to reopen.

__________________________________________

How many months are you talking about, Governor Gavin? 12 months or 24 months? I just have a feeling that you are having too much fun ordering people to stay home and not work...

I wish this salon owner a good luck...

I do know that hair salons are open in Georgia...

Will Corona PD send a SWAT team to close this salon down?

City of Corona is near 91 Freeway...

the elites don’t care they all have personal stylists. lets see if this loser’s hair grows while all the salons are closed, if not someone should say “Where are you getting your hair cut, Govenor?”

It wasn’t until Monday that California Labor Secretary Julie Su announced that independent contractors and self-employed individuals who typically don’t qualify for unemployment can start to expect benefits.

Trump report briefing on 3/25/20...

07:11.... The average worker who has lost his or her job will
07:14.... receive 100 percent of their salary for up to
07:17.... four full months
07:19.... Unlike normal unemployment benefits, independent
07:22.... contractors and the self-employed will be
07:24.... eligible.
07:25.... So you have independent contractors and
07:29.... self-employed people will be eligible for this.

Another salon owner in Vacaville, CA, is doing the same thing...
https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/vacaville-salon-reopens-despite-stay-at-home-order/2280820/

I salute these gals, as they embody the true spirit of the Founding Fathers. We either have liberty or we don’t. This is either a free republic or it’s not. I get the need for reasonable precautions, i.e., masks on stylists, limited number of people in the shop, proper hygiene with smocks, etc. But if a salon owner is willing to take reasonable precautions, and customers, after assessing the risks with their own judgment, want to get haircuts, then why the heck not? If a salon turns out to be petri dish of new infections, then shut it down. But to restrain someone’s business indefinitely for no reason other than the preferences of politicians and their “expert” advisors is inconsistent with the values on which this country was founded.

I was a contractor in Northern California. Think “tech writer” but there are other gig workers including accountants, recruiters, graphic artists, etc. I worked for myself and contracted at the Fortune 1,000 firms and some start-ups. Mostly in-house. Sometimes 1099, sometimes W2 payrolled through an agency.

The gig economy was strong.

Gig workers are screwed.
