Spam got me thru the BSA back in the 50s. lol.
mighty good fried!
That earned me an instant flashback to the Quick Camp Cooking lecture we got from a brand-new Assistant Scout Master: "Get a nice fire going until you get a good bed of coals, punch a hole in the top of your favorite dinner treat, set it in the coals and you're a couple of minutes away from a nice hot meal".
Really worked neat.
Until a Tenderfoot neglected to punch that damn hole.
Don't recall anybody in the Troop bringing a can of anything for years after that without having everyone else flee with cries of "Bean Bomber!! Bean Bomber!!"...
...then there was the time the Lutheran minister's kid brought a slingshot and a bag of cherry bombs to a Camporee... (I heard that our old Scoutmaster got a Big award for all his years in Scouting. Always thought dealing with my bunch alone would have rated at least the Silver Star...)
