Also note that on April 20, 37% of likely U.S. voters said country is on right track versus 57% who said it is on the wrong one.

For further perspective, Obama's numbers on April 24 2012 were at 46% approval and that 29% said country was on right track versus 63% who said it was on the wrong one. These numbers were accompanied with adoring media and entertainment industry elite and no crisis situation like the current one.

As the economy recovers — even if people are just going back to work — and the COVID hype recedes his numbers will go up. He has been the target of an unprecedented onslaught of negative media coverage. From this perspective, 45% is a good floor of support.

For the economy to recover he’s going to have to send the doctors back to their cubicles and pivot to 24/7 reopen mode.

Down from a 52% approval in the last 60 days. The trend is not Trump’s friend right now. Understandably.

Agreed, and that is why I put in Obama’s numbers as a means of putting this into perspective.

They’re flooding the airwaves with ‘lol Trump said inject urself with bleach’ myth and this apparently sways some people at least temporarily while he’s been teflon for everything else for years. Its kinda strange what catches on and what doesn’t

I’m glad he stopped the daily Covid briefings. Maybe in the first two weeks they were needed, but now hopefully a bi-weekly or something update will be enough. It was really just a chance for the media to ask irrelevant, gotcha questions. It became the media pushing its false narrative and Trump fighting back. Good for a TV drama show but little else. All the low-information people got out of it is Trump said something “mean” even if he explained something well. The media ended up controlling it although Trump tried.

He hit a low of 43 and now seems to be inching back up.
It will take some time but in politics November is a lifetime away

Ummm. Have you looked out at the situation on the ground here? VA’s guv just declared he won’t reopen his state for two years.

Birx is holding the beach ball underwater for another 30 days, by which time the supply chain even just for our food system will be shot.

I gotta admit, my fellow Americans are swayed easily and do not put things into perspective. Sad really and shows how outside elements(China) can cause a issue to influence public opinion to blame internally.

Stopping these daily covid-9 press briefings will help. He’s out there every day saying the same thing, basically how good he’s been. The scumbag media will never ever give him a fair hearing. Trump has to get back out to the people and get to the BG states. He’s much better off the cuff than with prepared statements.

I’ve heard it said elsewhere here that ending them about now is likely a good idea also because some states are already back on the path to normalcy and not having these briefings day after day can reflect that sense of being on (at least) the start of that return.

People were frightened by the media onslaught and predictions of millions of deaths. Now they are starting to get restless and it is starting to dawn on many that it really was never going to be much if any worse than a typical flu season.

President Trump's hands were tied... he had to get out in front of this, but now he is going to face the consequences of leading the charge into financial ruin over hyped up nonsense. The overall worldwide death rate this year from disease is less than last year, the year before, the year before that, and the year before that. You have to go back to 2016 to find a year with a higher death rate. As people start to realize what a farce this has been they are going to get more and more angry.

Agreed. But I fear part of even that anger, not counting those still living in fear, will blow back to Trump.

This is a tough one.

Roger Stone tried to warn Trump back during the transition that personnel is policy and that he shouldn’t be going along with all these Establishment picks. But Jared and Ivanka won out.

People on the left saw this as their one chance to defeat President Trump. He played it well, but things have now gone too far. People are starting to get angry, all the left has to do is steer that anger toward President Trump and the commie of their choice will be sitting in the oval office. The political fallout scares me 1000 times more than the virus which the vast majority of people in this country don’t even get symptoms from.
