Mine are ropy. I'm thin. They never have a problem with mine. Obese people are a challenge in a number of ways. Trying to put them under anesthesia can be difficult, lots of dermis to get through. My late mother worked for an anesthesiologist for a while. That doctor always had to be on his toes when putting an obese patient under. Even just transferring them from a stretcher can be a challenge. I'm often am asked to help three or four EMTs or nurses to move an obese person. If ever you can,volunteer some of your time in an ER and see what it can be like. Besides your local hospital ER might appreciate the help.

For some reason a lot of nurses, like the ones who do prep for surgery don’t know the proper technique.

My wife says she always has a problem with obese people. She says their veins are often hard to find under all the dermis.
