To: Quality_Not_Quantity

[For instance, Harbor Freight carries a line of hand tools that are virtually identical to Snap-On brand, right down to using the same font in the forgings. Certainly, much of what they carry is Chinese-made, but I will gladly spend the extra money to get the real thing (or at least a product not made there) so they don’t profit so much on their long-standing practice of outright stealing of intellectual property.]


You buy Snap-ons? You must either be loaded or use these tools to make a living. IIRC, they’re at least 7x more expensive. I’ve always bought some store brand. KMart’s Benchtop, Sears’s Craftsman, HD’s or Lowes’s whatever. Walmart’s store brand has also been pretty decent. Most of my inventory is from decades ago, when Made in Japan, Korea or Taiwan was the rule for these store brands.

I misspoke. I might buy Snap-On from a private party, but never from the truck. They’re just like RoomsToGo, a finance company that uses their product as a vehicle for their real purpose.
