Stalin’s image within Russia has been gradually rehabilitated in the 2000s from that of a bloody autocrat to an “outstanding leader.” Today, his approval rating among Russians is at historic highs.

Dzugasvilli was just a good ole boy drinking whiskey and rye, singing “This will be the day that I die”. NOT.

The problem was NEVER that the Russians were Communist.

The problem was that the Communists were Russian.

The word translated as “Terrible” in “Ivan the Terrible” actually means something kind of closer to awesome, like the sense of “Fear Of God”. Peter the Great would have approved of Stalin as would have Ivan, and I think they would have appreciated Putin, too.
