Obama was correct - there are in fact, 57 states + territories which are counted for voting in the Democratic Presidential nomination process.
Nice try, but incorrect. While Obama did say the words "57 states," he did not say there were only 57 states. Rather, he implied that there were a total of 60 states because he said he had been to 57 states during the campaign, had one more to go, and was not allowed to go to Hawaii or Alaska. So 57 plus the one to go plus Hawaii and Alaska equals 60 states. Now here is Obama's actual quote.
"It is wonderful to be back in Oregon," Obama said. "Over the last 15 months, weve traveled to every corner of the United States. Ive now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."Everyone gets this wrong because they stop at him saying 57 states when again, he clearly implied there were 60. However, you went further because you tried to justify what Obama said. There is no justification.
