Lysol maker urges people not to inject disinfectants after Trump remarks

Lysol and Dettol maker Reckitt Benckiser warned people against using disinfectants to treat the coronavirus, after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested researchers try putting disinfectants into patients’ bodies.

"Under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route)," the company said.

Trump said researchers should try to apply their findings to coronavirus patients by inserting light or disinfectant into their bodies.

“Is there a way we can do something like that by injection, inside, or almost a cleaning?” he said. “It would be interesting to check that.”

Reckitt said due to recent speculation and social media activity, it had been asked whether internal usage of disinfectants may be appropriate for investigation or use as a treatment.

Inadvertently I rant across that a hole Colbert or whatever his name is now on TV last night. He had a skit where Trump was dressed in clown face and something about clorox. I knew at that point if that guy EVER got in my cross hairs he would be in the obit pages. My uncle used to have a line about people like him: you have a problem, you get rid of the problem, and then you have no problem. Miss that guy's clear thinking. A WW2 flying chief in the South Pacific, he said just before his death, you know, I really think now I was shooting at the wrong people during the war. Sad he went out that way.

Makes one wonder what good material safety data sheets are. There are MSDSs for most, if not all, Lysol products. Apparently those don’t get read, either...

Ok, so I won't clean my house with Lysol. Fine. There are other products.

Trump was probably just smoking out the idiot liberal elitists doing all kinds of crazy things. Take a look at Chris Cuomo's wife's description of bathing in Clorox:

"At the direction of my doctor, Dr. Linda Lancaster, who reminded me that this is an oxygen-depleting virus, she suggested I take a bath and add a nominal amount of bleach. Yes, bleach. So, I add a small amount– ½ cup ONLY–of Clorox to a full bath of warm water–why? To combat the radiation and metals in my system and oxygenate it. “We want to neutralize heavy metals because they slow-up the electromagnetic frequency of our cells, which is our energy field, and we need a good flow of energy. Clorox is sodium chloride–which is technically salt. There is no danger in doing this. It is a simple naturopathic treatment that has been used for over 75 years to oxygenate the cells,” says Dr. Lancaster, “Household bleach is not chlorine.”

That's the writing of the wife of a top CNN newscaster. You can read more here

Mrs. Cuomo also had an IV drip of a concoction of vitamins and supplements.

Trump is just flushing out the quackery and idiocy of the CNN crowd.

Reckitt Benckiser clearly thinks their consumers are morons.

Like any other consumer goods producer, a significant number of their customers are morons.

Better a live moron buying your product than a dead one mis-interpreting Trump.

He was speaking to a doctor or researcher at the time.

I think the point is he was speaking, not listening.

Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is a chemical compound consisting of one chlorine atom and two oxygen atoms. It is a reddish to yellowish-green gas at room temperature that dissolves in water. It is used for a variety of antimicrobial uses, including the disinfection of drinking water.

Trump wondered (inartfully I grant you) whether the science being discussed by the DHS guy could have any utility in treating patients. It was a snarky reporter who inserted the word “injected” with her question. No doubt on purpose.

But he threw out a completely inappropriate term, 'disinfectant'. A term that the whole country applies to household cleaners.

You are falling for the modern leftist tactic of interpreting everything said by Republicans and conservatives in a hyper-literal way.

You are arguing from a position where no one says anything but literal English statements, and no one can understand other forms of expression. Do you get confused by poetry, or music lyrics, or exclamations like "hotter than hell"? Probably not. And neither does anyone else of normal intelligence.

The leftists interpreting statements in a hyper literal way are doing it for to advance their cause. Don't help them out.

President feels that they serve a purpose but I can't imagine what that is.

Do us all a favor and don't volunteer to plan strategy for any Republican campaigns. Instead go help some Democrat with their campaign plans.

"Chlorine dioxide is not a cure or treatment for medical ailments, including but not limited to autism, HIV, malaria, hepatitis viruses, influenza, common colds, and cancer. Claims that the ingestion of chlorine dioxide, often advertised as “Miracle Mineral Solution” or MMS, will cure these or other ailments are false. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises MMS should not be consumed."

Or injected, I would assume.
