Were all homeschoolers now. Schools have closed for more than 55 million students nationwide, and at least 34 states have shuttered schools for the rest of the academic year. Just in time, our media and academic elites are coming out swinging against homeschooling.
The Washington Post and Salon have raised questions about the practice lately. More alarming, Harvard Magazine this week unleashed a thoroughly unfounded attack on homeschooling, drawing on the work of Harvard University law professor Elizabeth Bartholet.
The article cited Bartholets call for a presumptive ban, because homeschooling supposedly violates childrens right to a meaningful education and their right to be protected from potential child abuse.

Protection from child abuse. None of that ever happens in public school does it.
Marxists do not want others interfering with their indoctrination processes....
You mean the children have their parents physically in the room for support, instead of a leftist teacher teaching them about abortion, faggotry and communism? The Horrors!
We homeschooled up to 7th grade.
Our kids were well ahead of their "peers".
Ours could also interact well with people of all ages, unlike many public schooled kids as they re artificially apart by age.
There is a big difference between homeschooling and the "distance learning" going on now.
When you homeschool, you either buy or develop your own curriculum and select your own books.
Distance learning uses the public school curriculum, books and other materials.
I drew up our curriculum for the first year and submitted it to the school district office.
Our kids were tested by a certified private school teacher, and were always at least a grade ahead of where they were "supposed to be".
From then first year on, the last project of the year for our kids was to select their own books, write up their curriculum for the next year and submit it.
I didnt go to public school. It was a private Christian academy with a tuition fee, and we had to wear a blazer and tie. Our teachers were center-right. I still remember the subjects in my junior year were Christian Living, then Advanced Science. In Christian Living, we were taught God created the universe in 7 days..then in Science, the Big Boom was the lecture lol.
My classmates were also home-schooled. The reason why some of them were in the academy was due to athletics. You cant showcase your talent while in your house, and at least 10 of my classmates went to NCAA-1 colleges with a scholarship.
I am fkn pissed at all the stuff I learned after high school that SHOULD have been taught in high school. Little stuff like.....LOGIC. NUTRITION. HISTORY. CONSTITUTION.
Our school district actively recruited homeschoolers for athletics and other activities.
These Leftest, Godless, anti-American, pedophile, brainwashers have been controlling what your children think and believe for decades. They don’t want to lose that control.
“Every child in America entering school at the age of five is insane because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. Its up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well by creating the international child of the future” - Dr. Chester M. Pierce, Psychiatrist, address to the Childhood International Education Seminar, 1973

Keep public schools closed.
DemocRAT Media go on attack on schooling children while THE SCHOOLS ARE ALL CLOSED. So Typical, So Predictable SO WRONG!

Another obscene example of how completely out of touch with reality these people are.
This insanity will continue until we bust up the Bill Ayers-worshipping teachers unions. You can cite facts, charts, diagrams, and testimonial after testimonial about the overwhelming success of school choice. But, until you slaughter the hideous, communist (if youre over 50, you get it) owned leviathan, youre wasting your time.
The voucher programs that have been tried have proven godsends to minority kids stuck in hell holes. Experts discovered that children learn better without bullets whizzing over their heads.
This is just one more example of the lefts unspeakable cruelty and abuse of those minorities it pretends to *care* about so much more than we do.
Obama the Horrible pulled the plug on a voucher program in DC that was working. Kids and parents begged him not to. Anything that not only provides a way to lift minorities up and save taxpayers money is repugnant to a lib, so he killed it. It was truly sickening.
It makes me wretch when I have to listen to a democrat preach about *compassion*.
A childs *right* to a *meaningful education *? Where is that in the Constitution? And who gets to define *meaningful*?
No kidding
By that logic we should stop boys from being altar boys, kids from going to summer camps, stop babysitters (my sister was abused by our babysitter)? The list goes on...
I think they are panicked that people won’t go back to the way things were. I do8 think people will if they can, financially.
They have become too close to their children and like spending time with them.
I meant that people won’t want to return to the way things were, having their children in public schools.
They've stopped even pretending that the point of school attendance is to learn academic subjects.
But seriously, everyone knows that if you see children over four years old outdoors during they day, they're homeschoolers. If you were, say, at a city park on a nice morning, it would be incredibly obvious, especially because some of them have home-made light sabers and are trying to recruit the others to re-enact "Star Wars" with them, while the others are saying, "Let's go see what we can find in the creek!"
