Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney said he believes Gov. Jay Inslees stay-home order is unconstitutional and he wont enforce it.
In a post on his Facebook page Tuesday night, Fortney wrote, I believe that preventing business owners to operate their businesses and provide for their families intrudes on our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As your elected Sheriff I will always put your constitutional rights above politics or popular opinion.
Fortney also wrote that he is worried about the economy and residents ability to make a living.
He cited other sheriffs in Washington state who also wont enforce the order but didnt say which ones.

HAHAHA! I love sheriffs. :)
Thank God for sanity and common sense.
It had the second largest number of coronavirus cases after King County (Seattle)
Gonna get exciting when Heir Inslee sends in the National Guard to enforce his demands
I’d love to see the National guard officers refuse to obey his commands as illegal under the Constitution.
Just like everywhere else, a large portion of deaths are from nursing homes. Snohomish County is essentially northern metropolitan Seattle. I’ll have to look to see if I can find the number of nursing home deaths broken down for that county.
Here’s an article on Washington nursing home cases from last week
From a quick look at that facilities listed, it doesn’t look like they are dispraportionately from Snohomish County

Likely a skewed subset of the population responding to his post, but what is your assessment of public sentiment in that area?

Those words may have been uttered in Olympia
I’m only a few blocks south of Snohomish County so that is good news to me.
The sheriff in Franklin County east of the mountains also said he will not enforce Dimslee’s edicts.
Snohomish County had a lot of deaths but Franklin County only had four. The counties east of the mountains in general only had zero, two, four so the whole east side of Washington should just open up. Also eastern Oregon.
another story on this with some additional information

How’s Clallam County doing?
This news is fantastic, and comes on the news that Franklin County yesterday also has stated that there will no longer be enforcement of the lock down.
This is going to spread quickly now to other counties and is likely happening now in other States!
Snohomish county is home to Boeing production, city of Everett, and Everett Naval Carrier Station (CVN Abraham Lincoln)
Hows Clallam County doing?”
Clallam County has had no deaths so they should open up. Maybe Dimslee will follow Cuomo’s lead and start opening up parts of Washington state.

Traffic is maybe half the normal volume. people seem to be walking running biking and going about their business. don’t know about parks. Deputies hereabouts are taking a decidedly
light hand approach to this quarantine thing. Very different than the a-holes in other juristictions.
Thanks
