Governors Call for New COVID-19 Relief Bill for States and Territories
The Epoch Times ^ | 22 April 20 | Tom Ozimek

Members of the National Governors Association (NGA) called for Congress to pass an additional $500 billion relief bill to stabilize states and territories, which they say are in “dire straits” from the pandemic-driven economic fallout.

In a letter signed by NGA Chairman Larry Hogan, Republican governor of Maryland, and NGA Vice Chairman Andrew Cuomo, Democrat governor of New York, leaders of the association outlined the damage to local economies from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 disease.

“As governors, we prioritize the health and welfare of our citizens above all other considerations. In response to the crisis and to ensure the safety of our citizens, we closed non-essential businesses, limited large gatherings, and implemented stay-at-home orders. We did not make these decisions lightly. As a result, our national and local economies are in dire straits and have resulted in the most dramatic contraction of the U.S. economy since World War II,” the leaders wrote.

Knew this was coming. All Commie states are bankrupt anyway, so now they want the Feds to bail them out. “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

It’s part of the Dem plan for the election. Have the states beg for money constantly. When the federal government can’t, or won’t supply endless funds, it’s Trump’s fault.

ENOUGH - STATES OPEN UP! Let the people on on about their lives! That means you NC DEM GOV Cooper!#ReopenNCNOW!

Read this in an article this morning:

The host of the show opined that if “anarchy” were to break out across the United States, “the government can’t bring the people to heel” due to the Second Amendment.

Brown said he had friends on Capitol Hill who were very worried about mass social disorder and a “gun battle on the streets.”

‘Brown said that so long as most people had believed that states were making progress on battling coronavirus, they would accept and adhere to lockdown laws for the time being.

“But people will chafe, that idea of individual freedom and liberty is much stronger in the U.S. than it is Australia,” he added.’

Believe the dude has it just about right!!!

Trump has turned over the decisions to the governors.

I hope the governors turn over the decision to open over to the local mayors and county judges.

A bailout would encourage governors to prolong the shutdowns. NO.

As long as the governors can keep paying ALL state employees they will continue the lockdown. Trump should not bail them out and force the states to furlough non essential workers, teachers, etc. This will force the governors to begin opening the private sector.

Nope, the boost should come from an infrastructure bill. No money to bail out bloated payrolls.

I hope not, Mitch seems to be telegraphing no more giveaways, perhaps only an infrastructure bill, and that's if they give Trump the payroll tax relief he wants.
