Senate passes $484B coronavirus bill aimed to help businesses, hospitals

The Senate overwhelmingly passed a near half-trillion-dollar coronavirus bill on Tuesday to replenish a small-business loan program and fund hospitals and testing efforts.

The $484 billion bill is the fourth large coronavirus deal since last month — and comes after a political standoff caused a lapse last week in the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program, which gives businesses loans that will be forgiven if they don’t lay off workers.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) sought unsuccessfully to pass a $250 billion expansion of the loan program this month, but was blocked by Democrats who wanted a larger package including aid for state and local governments, which ultimately was not included in the deal.

Has anybody any idea when the spending stops? Easy to make some funny jokes but this will not end well.

more crap out the DC goose. Crying shame what DC has done to this country over a hoaxdemic.

They have, by far, done more un-repairable damage to the country than any disease could ever do.

I think, maybe they are the disease.

I don’t know, did I miss something? Is Bernie President or something. I’ve never seen free money like this passed around.

My son is/was working for a caterer. He found out he’ll be getting paid for the next 8 weeks. Along with his government check, he’ll be making more than he did while working.

My brother-in-law is also out of work - he’s getting paid more than he earned as well.

I saw some meme awhile ago about how the virus is a liberal ploy.

Get folks to quit work.
Sit on the couch all day.
And get paid more money!

“The deal includes $60 billion set-aside for small banks, credit unions and other community lenders to expand the PPP to more businesses, including those without bank accounts.”

Ummm, we are going to give a forgivable business loan to a business that doesn’t have a bank account?

No bank account, no garnishment for child support. See how that works?

Wait till Nancy gets her hands on this. What will pass the House will look nothing like what passed the Senate.

They will wing up funding the deficits with 300 year bonds, paying only interest all those years and leaving our 13 times great grandchildren to worry about paying off the principle.
