I get ya! He is getting praise here because he didnt go draconian.
You misjudged FR because there are many here who will tolerate anything in the name of preserving their safety. Draconian for the Chicken Freepers would be cutting off their government check (and yes that means SS). Anything short of that is tolerable.
Ron DeSantis is the best large-state governor in the nation — no disrespect to Greg Abbott.
Much like Trump, he had to walk a political/administrative tightrope, balancing safety and Floridians’ basic rights to work and function normally.
I’ve gotten through this mess in good shape, mainly because I’ve been through about five hurricanes in my 62 years, and I know enough to prepare by stockpiling non-perishable food and other essentials like toilet paper.
As I wrote to my cousins Up North: “Hurricane season just came early this year.” The emergency is dragging out longer than Hurricane Irma a couple years back, which is bad. But there’s no property damage, which is great!
But a lot of the same safety principles apply.
Folks who live down here and don’t have hurricane supplies are basically sheeple. And that includes most of the face-mask wearers I see at Publix each week. Fortunately, all I need is fresh vegetables, which have never been in short supply.
The biggest hardship I’ve faced here in Southwest Florida was not being able to worship on Easter. That’s local overreach but I don’t think it’s going to last much longer.
