Did some digging, and learned that the average influenza/pneumonia mortality rate for Los Angeles County during 2014-2016 was 2,083.7 (per “Los Angeles County’s Health Status Profile”), and the mortality rate for 2017 was 2,000 (per the “Los Angeles County Influenza (Flu) and Pneumonia Death Statistics”).

The COVID-19 mortality for the County of Los Angeles as of April 20, 2020 is 661, clearly within the margins of previous years.

So what is going on here? Newsom and Garcetti shut down the economy, surfers getting arrested, bull-dozing skate parks, beaches closed, no hiking, no golfing, as though we are all children.

Sabo is right. Give me Liberty or give me Death.

Wait. Are you comparing a little over a month to an entire flu season? If the current total is 661 after about a month, will it be six times that over a similar period as the flu season?
