Drexel University researchers have reported a method to quickly identify and label mutated versions of the virus that causes COVID-19. Their preliminary analysis, using information from a global database of genetic information gleaned from coronavirus testing, suggests that there are at least six to 10 slightly different versions of the virus infecting people in America, some of which are either the same as, or have subsequently evolved from, strains directly from Asia, while others are the same as those found in Europe....

Thought some might this interesting and worth watching. Might explain some of the seeming differences between Northeast and West Coast numbers and patterns.

["This allows us to see the very specific fingerprint of COVID-19 from each region around the world, and to look closely at smaller regions to see how it is different," Rosen said. "Our preliminary analysis, using publicly available data from across the world, is showing that the combination of subtypes of virus found in New York is most similar to those found in Austria, France and Central Europe, but not Italy. And the subtype from Asia, that was detected here early in the pandemic has not spread very much, instead we are seeing a new subtype that only exists in America as the one most prevalent in Washington state and on the west coast."]

Could it be the West Coast version is the “nice” one? While the NYC one is not so nice? Could that be why Santa Clara County has so many unexpected positive antibody tests? A lot of interesting questions here. Remember the way we get “nicer versions” is for people to get infected from multiple sources at the same time.

Right now Californias CFR is 3.7%, New York is 7.4%. Almost like two different diseases. Can the virus have attenuated that fast? If so can we expect it to fall even further in as brief a time? If it does doesn’t that pretty much prove this was a “Gain of Function” manipulated virus?

Interesting, to say the least.

When FR was first discussing the virus in China, there were thoughts about the environmental conditions, such as high air pollution and higher incidence of smokers in China.

The different mutations of the virus may have been a response to the conditions to where it settled.

The New York version of Covid-19 is extra nasty, what a surprise.

Different virus or different treatment protocol?

This paper suggests at least slight genetic differences. It doesn’t look at treatments or outcomes etc
