CNN's Brian Stelter took to Twitter on Saturday to let his followers know that he has been struggling with the Wuhan coronavirus. According to the left-wing talking head, he spent Friday night in bed, crying about Americans' "pre-pandemic lives."
Last night, I hit a wall. Gutted by the death toll. Disturbed by the govt's shortcomings. Dismayed by political rhetoric that bears no resemblance to reality. Worried about friends who are losing jobs; kids who are missing school; and senior citizens who are living in fear.
I crawled in bed and cried for our pre-pandemic lives. Tears that had been waiting a month to escape.
I wanted to share because it feels freeing to do so. Now is not a time for faux-invincibility. Journos are living this, hating this, like everyone else. http://cnn.it/3cwJBNo
The link to his last tweet goes to his newsletter, where he dives deeper into how he's feeling:
Hey everybody. I missed last night's newsletter deadline for the first time in years. Truth is, I hit a wall. Gutted by the death toll. Disturbed by the government's shortcomings. Dismayed by political rhetoric that bears no resemblance to reality. Worried about friends who are losing their jobs and kids who are missing school and senior citizens who are living in fear. I crawled in bed and cried for our pre-pandemic lives. I think those tears had been waiting a month to escape.
I wanted to share this with you because it feels freeing to do so. Now is not a time for faux-invincibility. Journalists are living this and hating this just like everyone else.
The newsletter also features a number of headlines from around the country, all of which are negative:
Scrolling through the Newseum's gallery of newspaper front pages, the # of headlines about Trump's antics and "reopening" plans are vastly outnumbered by the daily reality of the virus. The front pages serve as a reality check to Trump's unreality . Here's a sampling of Saturday's headlines:
St. Louis Post-Dispatch in MO: "Tensions run high"
Minneapolis Star Tribune in MN: "No letup in cases, deaths"
NY Daily News in NY: "NURSING HOMES RAVAGED"
Atlanta Journal-Constitution in GA: "State data undercounts deaths"
Sioux City Journal in IA: "School year is over"
Chicago Sun Times in IL: "Class dismissed"
Tampa Bay Times in FL: "Business relief a mirage for many"
The Times of Trenton in NJ: Second wave of cases 'a very real concern'
Stelter also highlights other negative media coverage, like journalists being laid off, Taylor Swift canceling the rest of her 2020 shows, and attacks on Dr. Oz, Dr. Pensky and Dr. Phil for "making absurd comments about coronavirus on Fox News."
In fact, the only positive things he highlighted in his newsletter were Netflix's stocks hitting an all-time high and Michelle Obama partnering with PBS and Penguin Random House to read stories to children.
If Stelter is feeling so overwhelmed by what's happening with the Wuhan coronavirus, there are quite a few things he could do to feel better:
1) How about highlighting some of the positive stories that have come out of this pandemic? Instead of constantly talking about the doom and gloom, why not talk to people who survived and overcame this virus? What about highlighting communities coming together to support one another?
2) Instead of constantly attacking President Trump for "being a racist" or "not doing enough," why not highlight the positive things that are happening? Businesses across the nation have stepped up to help create personal protective equipment and ventilators. Americans have pulled out their sewing machines and made masks for their local hospitals. Americans are coming together in a way we haven't seen since WWII, but you wouldn't know it by turning on CNN.
It's hard to feel sorry for people like Stelter when he puts himself in his own echo chamber of negativity. Yes, this pandemic has been hard on everyone. Thousands of people have died and that's a tragedy. People have lost their jobs and kids have had to completely revamp their lives, but there is a positive outlook on this. Things aren't nearly as bad as they were projected to be. Millions of people were projected to die, and we aren't even at 100,000. That is a win! Every American life we save is a win.
CNN should try a different approach throughout the remainder of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Instead of sticking with "Orange Man Bad," maybe they should focus on giving Americans hope. If Brian is tired of politics as usual, then he needs to take a look in the mirror and see how he's played into this negativity and spin that is harming so many during these trying times.

Brian had a dream that he would no longer be able to manufacture fake news and lie with impunity, as he did b.c.
B.C. = before Wuhan Chinese Corona virus
If he hit a wall, maybe he should turn around and start walking the other way. Notice he said “the govt’s shortcomings”. You mean it isn’t all Trump’s fault?
Maybe when we’re done laughing at him, we can educate him that the alphabet swamp in DC is and always has been the problem, and that Trump is the first POTUS in generations to actually try to kick their butts into gear. It took a Pandemic for people to actually look at them, and the people shouldn’t like what they see. While the pandemic was bubbling around the world, the Congress was impeaching him for looking into political corruption and the intel and WH worms were betraying him.
From the DoS to the DoJ to the NIH, HHS, CDC, FDA, diplomatic corps and even a few in the military services are in open rebellion or dragging their feet... or, as in the case of the test kits, showing their ineptitude, showing their lack of consistency and rigor.
This country wasn’t founded to have such an expensive, expansive and intrusive federal government. And it has devolved into a whole slew of little fiefdoms they all protect each other, cover for their incompetence, and look the other way at the many types of corruptions. They hate Trump not because of what he is or what he says, but of what he represents: a threat; a man who can pull back the sheet and show us that the emperor wears no clothes.
The response to this virus is going to cost us untold trillions of dollars. Lives lost yes. Economic catastrophe. Federal, State, and municipal tax revenues will plummet and they will all demand a bailout or tax increase or both. And when we look at it all, we need to ask ourselves how much of this do we really need? 22 million lost their jobs, but every government employee is still collecting a check to sit at home. As in the mob movies, they went from a “no work” job to a “no show” job with pay and benefits. What good did all this bureaucracy really deliver to the people? They had no supplies. They restricted the private sector from reacting. They put the breaks on innovation. They tried to have us worry about ‘micro-aggressions’ instead of worrying about real aggression, from viruses or from Iran or anywhere else.
Now we have kids learning on the internet. Universities shut down. Businesses shuttered. Restaurants and small companies that may never come back. There is a chance to rethink everything we have been doing, and of new ways to do them. Indeed, we will have to rethink everything in our own lives, and we need to rethink the role and scope of the federal government. And the media, people like this jelly doughnut, reflexively defending the indefensible mainly for spite, but also for profit. They do us little good when they lie and spin and obfuscate incessantly.
Hey Brian, this type of behavior you exhibit must get your wife or girlfriend soaking wet!
Queen of the Snowflakes.
I heard that when Hunter Biden sent out for a dildo to liven up one of his strip club soirees, they brought back Brian Stelter.
Makes you wonder how long he cried in bed when he realized that hes going bald. Probably happened during his high school years.
This is exactly the hysterical nonsense that Bill Maher was fretting about last night...
But the idiots on the left just can’t help themselves.
Stelter is such a pussy. I love watching candy-ass crying liberals go into meltdown. If the draft was in affect today, Steltzer would have jump the fence into Canada years ago with his Jane Fonda & Mao Zedong posters.
Good! I want them to continue with the hysteria. Most folks arent buying it.
Did he died-ed?
I think he died-ed.
Gender fluid?
Most likely!!
BOYFRIEND, not girlfriend or wife (he plays the female role in his relationships.
May posterity forget people like this were our countrymen.
He’s a female puppy.
LOL, Yea, He could probably grow some hair on that bald top of his if someone gave him a few applications of "Hickory Stick Shampoo".
