I am a security guard. I worked as a tack welder(shipfitter) for 6 months in 78 on the yard’s first steel hull- a crew boat. When it was launched there were no further projects in immediate prospect and everybody got laid off. Most hung around working in construction or in restaurants etc. I went commercial fishing and didn’t come back to the yard for 37 years.
