Republicans plow ahead with Russia origins probe
The Hill ^ | 04 18 2020 | Jordain Carney

Senate Republicans are marching forward with probes into the origins of the FBI's Russia investigation and the surveillance of a former Trump campaign adviser.

The developments come as the Senate is in the middle of a five-week break sparked by the rapid spread of the coronavirus, which has devastated the economy and resulted in more than 30,000 deaths in the United States.

But top GOP chairmen are unveiling details of their controversial probes, or requesting more information, signaling they have no intention of slowing down even as senators aren’t expected to reconvene until at least May 4, the Senate’s tentative return date.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), seizing on newly declassified details of a Justice Department watchdog report, are asking FBI Director Christopher Wray to hand over all records related to “Crossfire Hurricane,” the name for the counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign and Russia.

“We are deeply troubled by the Crossfire Hurricane team’s awareness of and apparent indifference to Russian disinformation, as well as by the grossly inaccurate statements by the FBI official in charge of the investigation and its supervisory intelligence analyst,” the two GOP senators wrote Thursday in a letter to Wray.

"GOP chairmen are unveiling details of their controversial probes"

What makes them controversial? This was spying on the Trump campaign and an attempt to cripple his presidency, orders of magnitude worse than Watergate. It involved the CIA, the FBI, the Obama administration and the media. Who knew what and when did they know it?

A Republican joke. The FBI wasn’t corrupt and attempting a coup. Thry were honest patriots tricked by Russians... and maybe were a bit sloppy in their zeal.

the surveillance of a former Trump campaign adviser.

Wrong, The obongo Administration conducting an illegal surveillance operation. Spying on an opposition election campaign and transition followed by a fraudulent accusation of collusion with Russia and the incoming President. These bastards belong in jail but it is not going to happen.

Kabuki theatre to keep anyone from noticing their dereliction of duty to the Constitution to keep foreigners out of the Oval Office.

Obama is not a natural born citizen.

No child of a foreigner is a natural born citizen.

All children of foreigners are themselves foreigners even if awarded US citizenship.

Natural born citizens are NATURALLY citizens because they were born here of citizen parents and could not be anything else.

Everyone born something else (like British subject/Kenyan national) is NOT a natural born citizen.

“Lindsay Graham AWOL again.”

Please reread the article:

“In addition to the new disclosures from Grassley and Johnson, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) released details of the Judiciary Committee’s probe into the FISA warrant process.

Part of the documents released by Graham, who created a new website for the committee probe, include newly declassified DOJ material including George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, and redacted warrant applications against Page.

“I’m committed to being as transparent as possible about the circumstances surrounding FISA abuse. The goal is to make sure it never happens again,” Graham said in a statement.

The investigation by Grassley and Johnson were a separate investigation probing directly into Hunter Biden and his Burisma connection:

“The focus on the origins of the Russia campaign comes as Grassley and Johnson’s separate investigation into Hunter Biden and Burisma Holdings is largely in limbo sparked by the Senate recess and a fight within the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which Johnson chairs, on subpoenas.”

There are a number of different investigations running concurrently. Hard to keep track. Can’t tell you players without a scorecard.

I agree with others who believe nothing will come of this. YET,it is amazing how slanted these articles are regarding an investigation that has a strong basis. This is unlike their breathless fawning coverage of the Schiff Sch***.

Examples here: “Republicans PLOW ahead” with investigation; Republicans are “. . . MARCHING forward with probes;” “CONTROVERSIAL probes; and further that Trump “DECRIED” the probe as a witch hunt.

Not to mention that they actually said in the article that the investigation into Trump was “. . . SPEARHEADED by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele,” as if the DNC and Hillary had nothing at all to do with it.

I hate the enemeida!

linda has already stated that he told mccainiac to give the dossier to the fbi. He stated that in a presser as the fisa report was given to congress. It's funny that no took any interest in it.

Yeah exactly. And now the FBI claims they were tricked by Russians. That’s bullshit. They created the whole thing, deliberately and criminally. They now release a document saying Russia tricked them. This is a totally cover story lie

Linda has the wrong goal. His first goal should be to jail the coup plotters. That may be the best way to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
