In my county in Wisconsin and those surrounding that I keep a watch on, the identities are protected. There is enough panic without narrowing down a clock or neighborhood.
The band trip was - likely - sponsored by the school. This is nothing more or less than a bureaucracy sterilizing its litter box.
As usual, the best info is at the bottom of the article. I guess they didn’t want her panicking parents, students, and teachers with a false claim that she had COVID-19:
“It was brought to my attention today that there was a rumor floating out there that one of our students contracted Covid-19 while on the band trip to Florida two weeks ago. Let me assure you there is NO truth to this. This was a foolish means to get attention and the source of the rumor has been addressed. This rumor had caught the attention of our Public Health Department and she was involved in putting a stop to this nonsense. In times like this, the last thing we need out there is misinformation,’ the administrator wrote.

11 people on the fire department I retired from tested positive for “Covid 19” two weeks ago. Only 1 developed very mild symptoms. Now they all test negative. Most people with mild exposures do not develop any symptoms before getting over it.

That’s the bottom line right there. I hope this young lady gets a good lawyer and sues the pants off the sheriff’s office and the school district. The sheriff, in particular, should be forced to resign.
(Just when I started to hate lawyers again, a story like this comes along.)
Side note: I am very disturbed by the “disorderly conduct” threat. A cop doesn’t like what you’re doing? It’s disorderly conduct!
