Government coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci says that heartsick isolationists can hook up with asymptomatic Tinder matches in real life — but, like love, it involves some risk.
The 79-year-old immunologist dropped the unorthodox dating tip in a Tuesday interview on Snapchat’s “Good Luck America.”
Toward the end of the taped segment, Fauci was asked: “If you’re swiping on a dating app like Tinder, or Bumble or Grindr, and you match with someone that you think is hot, and you’re just kind of like, ‘Maybe it’s fine if this one stranger comes over.’ What do you say to that person?”
“You know, that’s tough,” replied the befuddled National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director to the curveball. “Because that’s what’s called relative risk.”

He added, “If you want to go a little bit more intimate, well, then that’s your choice regarding a risk.”

My eldest son and his friends troll on tinder all the time. They make up bizarre fake profiles and still get hits. They’ve developed a whole point system to see who’s ahead. (They’re in their young 20s)
The man is a media whore who doesn’t have the guts to say the truth because it would make him appear uncool. Casual sex is a great way to get or give the virus. And certainly no one should be meeting up with randoms for any reason if things really are so bad that we are all supposed to be on lockdown.

My Mom, who supports Trump and prays for him multiple times a day, says the democrats have been so evil that she thinks Trump will receive devine intervention. I think he may get it!

Why was he even asked about something like this, and why would he answer a question about this? This is nuts.

followup: if this happened on tuesday and it was published on wednesday, why is this not getting more widespread coverage? is fauci got a get-out-of-jail card from the media on this? this just adds to the already existing aura of surrealism and absurdity surrounding the national shelter in place. a month ago there was considerable media coverage of a new form of dating, video dating.
i do not see how the current status quo can continue given fauci’s heavy influence in it.
i also can’t see how dr. birx or anyone else on the WH covid18 team (pence??) would ever stand behind dr. fauci on this topic.
i could be missing something (but what?)
or, he’s got a few skeletons in his closet and he wants to make certain that he is in front of any untimely and potentially embarrassing revelations.
also, imho someone (an investigative reporter) needs to dig into his answers on this line of questioning during the AIDS epidemic...
