Riverside County has modified an app intended to report violations of novel coronavirus health orders after people used it to tattle on fellow residents.
From now on, RivCoMobile can only be used to report violations by non-essential businesses.
We received several complaints that were not about businesses, but people in the community, county spokeswoman Brooke Federico said via text Tuesday, April 14.
As a result, the app was changed so that people can only report non-essential businesses that are still operating, Federico said. The apps other intention was to identify parts of the county where social distancing is not being followed that can correlate to (COVID-19) outbreaks in the community, she added.

Cops sick and tired of being run around like headless chickens, eh?
Can folks report illegals?
Asking for a friend.
The Gestapo is also in full force on NextDoor as well. I call them NextDoor Nazis.
Some teens were playing soccer at a local high school and some adults were playing golf, yet some Heinrich Himmler wannabes posted photos of them and complained they werent social distancing enough.
Here is a novel thought: Mind your own business!
“...after people used it to tattle on fellow residents.”
That was probably me. I downloaded the app, lodged a few complaints and quit. It got boring pretty quick. Deleted the app.
No, I’m not in California...
Didn’t work out how they planned but it was certainly predictable
Just overwhelm the system. Call in on every politician, dem, you can.
Your question and your friend's concern are examples of what our undocumented community faces in the way of discrimination.
All they ask is a chance to enter and stay illegally, bilk and milk the system for health care, food, housing, spending money and the right to vote in America and not be deported if they commit felonies against people here. Is that so much to ask? /s
Good idea that will never catch on in America.
As soon as they start to offer prizes (gift cards, game discounts, chance to win a new phone) the young people of America will cheerfully turn in their parents without hesitation. "Here's my dad's pickup license number and he's on the way down Miller southbound to go to a Trump rally."
My guess is that the folks being snitched upon were from connected families.
NextDoor is awful; now it is awful, on steroids. I remember laughing, when I heard that Social Media was designed to make people stupid. Not laughing, anymore . . .
“The Gestapo is also in full force on NextDoor as well. I call them NextDoor Nazis.”
Our lead is full blown Democrat talking points. He will start discussions, get others removed then lock discussion leaving up his anti-Trump rants. Got my account suspended.
California will bring back the Nazi Brown Shirts that Hitler relined on.
Giving American citizens an indication of life under a communist system where snitching on fellow citizens is common practice.
First nonessential business I would report is city hall. Government has shutdowns all the time and I never notice.
I saw the same thing but about people playing golf.People asking if they had turned them in. Ridiculous.
There isn’t a kid under 40 who can think beyond his nose.
WHO did they think was going to get reported???
In the history of Russia, in Gulag Archipelago, the communists turned nearly everyone into snitches. Their goal: trust no one, except the government.
My favorite was the story about the woman who posted pictures on Facebook of her trip to the beach from last year. Someone ratted her out to the police and they came to her door and she was fined. Eventually the fine was dropped as she kept telling them the pictures were from the previous year. Amazing. Long live big brother.
When I was at the grocery store earlier this week and was probably the only in there not wearing a mask, I swear I saw a few people take their cellphones out to take a picture.
The sign in front of the store then said do not enter if you have any symptoms. Today it said wear a mask.
Some people like being block wardens.
You need the N95 one and that wont really protect for long.
