U.S. stock futures are signaling a strong start to Friday's session adding to the momentum seen on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared nearly 900 points or 3.8 percent while the S&P 500 was higher by over 3 percent and the Nasdaq Composite 2 percent plus as of 1:30 a.m. ET.
Earlier in the evening, President Trump outlined the early-stage, phase approach as part of the Opening Up America Again" coronavirus come back plan and there was also positive news on Gilead Sciences.

There was a thread yesterday that was saying that it appeared that Covid-19 was created to test how well remdisivir worked.

Oh, those whacky Big Pharma guys & gals!
We should start to hear of results, for the first of (many) research projects about Hydroxychloroquine, in about a week.
Expect there to be more of this.
Foolishness.
Remdesivir has been around a long time and used by the chicoms to treat covid. Why is this news and why is it the “reason” for the stock market futures rally?
I am doubtful it is about Remdesivir. More likely it is about the back to work prospects and plan.
How dishonest can the media get. Pretty damned dishonest.
Given that S&P futures are 1% higher than Nasdaq would appear to indicate the Boeing and Trump-Restart news is more consequential and Gilead.
I would not put too much importance on a NASDAQ/S&P ratio, but I am in complete agreement the rally is heavily influenced by DJT’s plan to re-open the economy.
And he got scarf-lady and Fauci to agree with the plan. I wish I knew what went on behind the scenes for that to happen.
Why does it seem like a big pharma drug is legit on treating this virus yet a off-patent cheap drug is not?
I work in the pharmaceutical industry, but I have no stake in this particular game. Remdesevir is an anti-viral drug, and SARS CoV-2 is a virus; it stands to reason that an anti-viral drug would be needed to eradicate it.
While hyroxychloroquine isn't an anti-malaria drug, it seems to effect the mechanism of action in COVID-19, which may also be effective enough to stop it from spreading within its host.
To date, there are few published clinical studies on hydroxychloroquine, and those that are have raised questions--more so about methodology of the trial as opposed to the effectiveness, but if you want to discredit trial results (which the media want to do in this case), you question the methodology.
Remdesevir on the other hand, has one published clinical trial against COVID-19, and the sponsor and results appear to be more in line with what the scientific community want to see.
Again, I have no skin in this particular game; I want a treatment for this disease so we can get on with our lives. If we have multiple treatments, that's fine also. Don't turn this into a "big pharma" thing...hydroxychloroquine was developed by "big pharma" (Sanofi), and ALL generic drugs once started as brand name drugs. It's good to have multiple options for people, as different drugs may work in some patients better than others.
