Snip...
To take just one example, the CDC was created in 1942 as the Office of National Defense Malaria Control Activities, and in 1946 was renamed the Communicable Disease Center. For many decades it focused its full efforts on its original mission: viruses and communicable diseases. But by the 2000s, the CDC, like most executive agencies, had become largely independent of political control and lost its focus. It had widened its work to include chronic diseases and addictions, nutrition, school health, injuries, anda telltale sign of ideological corruption and mission creepracial and ethnic approaches to community health. It is a logical fact that if you favor some people you must disfavor others.
In 2007, the late Senator Tom Coburn issued a well-documented report entitled, CDC Off CenterA review of how an agency tasked with fighting and preventing disease has spent hundreds of millions of tax dollars for failed prevention efforts, international junkets, and lavish facilities, but cannot demonstrate it is controlling disease. In the years since, there have been reports documenting multi-million dollar CDC studies on topics like the prevention of gun violence, how parents should discipline children, and chronic health conditions among lesbian, gay, and bisexual populations.
In 2017 alone, the CDC spent over $1.1 billion on chronic disease prevention and health promotion, $215 million on environmental health, and $285 million on injury preventionall purposes that are addressed by other federal agencies. That money could have been used to prepare for communicable diseases, including replenishment of our stockpile of masks and ventilators. In other words, it could have been used to do the work the CDC was created to do.

Every organization is like any organism.
It will take, grow and bloat if unchecked by natural competition. It will progress from seeking focused success to inevitably seeking power and influence.
Every organization has an arch that starts with a specific goal, branches to a multitude of facilitation of it’s original goals, progresses to less and less related ‘opportunities’, and in the end fails under it’s own weight of greed and waste.
bump
The CDC is the primary, #1, agency in all of America tasked with finding, and preventing, contagious diseases here. Center For Disease Prevention.
Testing for new diseases, and quickly discovering the rate and dispersion of it, is THEIR #1 job.
The CDC completely dropped the ball. And actively prevented others from doing it for them. With the willing complicity of the FDA. It came from China, yes, but those 2 agencies are directly responsible for the economic disaster.
If the CDC has done its primary job, it would have been known early how quickly it was spreading, and how lethal it was. And who already had gotten over it. They delayed all parts of that information for over a month. By then, they were trying to play catch-up, and failed at that, too.
One small department at the CDC, one guy, in particular delayed the first test for weeks due to his ego. He tried to design and build a monument to himself; the “perfect, single test for everything”. And it was a disaster, of course. Recalled.
I can’t emphasize enough how the CDC, with help from the FDA, destroyed the American economy. Heads need to roll. Desperately. Mass firings. Prosecutions, even. And, like the FBI, their names are forever tainted.
Blame the school shooter for the crime (China). But the head cop who didn’t respond, eating donuts, and preventing other cops from entering the building during it, is the CDC.
Long? It can be read in 5 minutes.
You must be a speed reader. It took me longer than that. :-) Besides, most folks aren’t willing to read more than 3 or 4 paragraphs. Too many other things to look at.
