I just got back from Lansing and didnt make it to the capitol area. A 1 hour drive took me 3 1/2 hours to get there. It wouldve taken me another hour or 2 to get to the capitol once I was off the freeway. There were that many cars there. People were nice to each other...honking, waving, smiling...but they are POd at Whitmer like Ive never seen. Example: a pickup truck with her enlarged pic in the back window with a Hitler mustache in black marker and swastikas on each side of her head titled Gretchen Hitler. Another with her enlarged pic on the driver side door and the person gave her the middle finger, drawn on both sides of her. There are so many examples. There is no way that the media could convey the level of anger among the citizens. I was on Woodward in Detroit during the anti-war marches in the late 60s. This level of anger is way, way worse.
I got as far as Pennsylvania and Michigan Ave. I concur. And the crowd was orderly. Traffic was jammed, but in one direction each way only. Drivers were well mannered and and waved and honked at each other and at those on the street who offered support (and there were very many who did).
