I thought Japan already dealt with it.

They mostly have, but there are people, many younger that do not wear masks base don what my stepdaughter is relaying to me.

Contact tracing is also proving to be an issue, as some people do not want to disclose where they have been. Which means several choices:

Hostess clubs
Cabaret clubs
Pink salons
Fashion health
Soaplands

Maybe they minimized it while they were trying to save the Olympics? They have of course an elderly society with lots of muligenerational households and Tokyo with a larger and even denser population than NYC with even more crowded subways.

But yeah, sounds as if they are going with the alarmist models for now.

“I thought Japan already dealt with it.”

They were but apparently their measures were doing well and the dam broke.
Now they are fearing the worst. They have some high density urban areas that will be troublesome.

God be with Japan, a very good ally.
