Trump meets with recovered Coronavirus patients, touts Hydroxychloroquine; Some in the meeting have anecdotally said the drug has helped them

President Trump on Tuesday met with a handful of recovered coronavirus patients who traveled from all over the country, including from states with stay-at-home orders, to meet with him. Some of them had taken hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malarial drug the president has been touting.

Mr. Trump asked the patients to discuss their experience with the drug, if they took it. Some patients have anecdotally said it has helped them, although clinical trials about the effectiveness and risks of taking the drug have yet to be completed.

One of the participants at Tuesday's roundtable was a Democratic state representative, Karen Whitsett, who credited the drug at least in part for her recovery. Mr. Trump joked that surely she won't vote for former vice president "sleepy" Joe Biden for president.

"Had you not brought this to the forefront of the HQ, of being able to put this out here, I wouldn't be here today to even have this conversation with you and to be able to talk about the needs of Detroit and talk about this people who really need this," Whitsett said during the meeting.

The president said that if anyone other than him endorsed the drug, people would back it, rather than question it. Mr. Trump has told reporters he doesn't personally have any investments related to hydroxychloroquine.

"We have tremendous endorsements, but if it was somebody else other than Trump that put it forward, if some other person put it forward that said, 'Oh, let's go with it.' You know, what do you have to lose?" Mr. Trump said Tuesday. "They've been taking it for 40 years for malaria, which by the way, it's an unbelievable malaria pill. Unbelievable lupus pill."

Mark Campbell, a former NFL player for the Cleveland Browns, also said at the meeting that he took hydroxychloroquine.

Those saved by hydroxy have not been helped anecdotally. They have been saved from dying as a matter of fact.

Some in the meeting have anecdotally said the drug has helped them

Did they "anecdotally" say it, or did they "actually" say it?

When and if there is something better, people will use it. Until then people will use hydroxychloroquine. It should be understood that the restrictions on prescribing imposed by Democratic governors in NJ and NY have made it impossible for primary care physicians to prescribe hydroxychloroquine in a timely manner. The pharmacists won’t dispense the drug unless there is a “positive” COVID-19 test. The problem is that the test may not be available or take days to get a result. Physicians want to start hydroxychloroquine and zithromax with the onset of fever and dry cough. If you have to wait for shortness of breath and actual pneumonia, the therapy may not work. These governors are responsible for many deaths.

It’s looking like dictionaries are going to need to add a definition to the word “anecdotal” to capture the new usage Dr. Fauci has inspired.

How can you tell if someone is saying something anecdotally or regular?

Now we can just say Trump’s comments about women letting a celebrity do anything were anecdotal. I mean you can obviously TELL, right?

What is “anecdotally said”? Do we now need to add “anecdotally” to “in my opinion”. Must be the new way of saying they are not experts. Because experts know best, just listen to the experts, trust and obey. Chicken Freepers agree.

“In my opinion speaking anecdotally”.

Shutting down the economy is stupid without knowing the FATALITIES AS A PERCENTAGE OF THE INFECTION RATE.

We need more ANTIBODY STUDIES ASAP!!!

A 1000 person German antibody study by the University of Bonn resulted in a death rate of those infected at 0.37% and a CV infection rate at 15%. The Diamond Princess had an infection rate of 17%.

CV appears to be MORE CONTAGIOUS and LESS LETHAL than we thought.

If this is correct, the US economy should be reopened NOW, all schools reopened, protect the elderly with preexisting conditions and stop this MEDIA DRIVEN PANIC & NONSENSE.

A fair report would need to state that many of the drugs mentioned by the President have been in use for decades, without adverse side effects.

I might’ve wrong, but I believe Cuomo is only allowing it’s use in the hospital...

Primary Care cannot prescribe...

Cuomo’s policy is resulting in many deaths and unnecessary admissions to hospitals. Of course the eventual claim for reimbursement to the states and hospital will be based on the number of patient’s admitted and the length and complexity of their stay. Relatively inexpensive outpatient treatment will not result in future big Federal reimbursements.
