Currently the left and media is saying he caused deaths by not closing down sooner; however, no one is coming back and saying, but how many lives did I save by closing down when I did even while being called a racist, etc.
The left are going to blame President first, then Pence. I think Fauci will be protected (look at how it is protected even now on the news with not showing his contradictory statements early on). Fauci is friend of Clinton’s, Pelosi, etc.

The shutdown was meant to slow the spread of the virus to prevent tge healthcare system from being overwhelmed. If better numbers and the coming antibody tests prove that the virus was already wide spread but had lethality comparable to the flu and the healthcare system outside of a few specific locations was never going to become overwhelmed... I think it would, and most likely will show an extreme overreaction.
On the fire department that I retired from 11 people tested positive, only 1 had any symptoms at all and he thought that he had his usual “hay fever” from our sky high pollen count. When less than 10% of healthy people under 50 can even tell that that they are sick, its almost impossible to control the spread. On the positive side a large percentage of the population is likely developing immunity without even realizing it.
The vulnerable few will die off as they do during many resperatory illness seasons and we will be left with a large percentage of the population with immunity regardless of the waste of trillions of dollars. When we are all left holding the bag later this year, the virus has fizzled away and all the politicians are patting themselves on the back... Any reasonable person will start to wonder whether it was money well spent.
