“Who Will Get Blamed If Coronavirus Shutdown Turns Out To Be A Massive Overreaction?”

Likewise, who gets blamed if we end the shutdown too early?

This all starts with the false premise that had we done nothing everything would have been ok. Every place that tried doing nothing has found that they were far from ok and had to do something. WHO is facing extinction because they tried the do nothing and all will be fine approach.

The dims are not trying the Trump should have done nothing approach. That was there approach. Now they accuse Trump of acting too late when they dithered.

Trump will definitely be blamed, especially if he waits to let the cure become significantly worse than the problem (i.e., millions unemployed, major recession and depression, etc.). He needs to move NOW!

One of the best lines I’ve heard is that if President Trump cured cancer he’d be blamed for putting oncologists out of work.

The democrat press and the party are going to try to force a shutdown again in the fall, leading up to the election. They think it will help their agenda to institute mail ballot fraud. If Trump resists the closing, pointing back to the “scientists” whose predictions were epically wrong, correctly places the blame for the hysteria and fear upon the eneMedia, I think he survives. If he follows advice for another shutdown and cower, he is done.

“Overreaction?”

Who knows?

• What if the President did nothing at all?

• Practically and ethically, CAN a US President even have DONE nothing at all?

• Is there a workable, effective precedent for dealing with global pandemic?

• Is/was there a half-way measure for facing a possible pandemic in the absence of complete/correct information?

• Would a half-a*&ed approach draw more or less Liberal criticism? (Because of course, criticism is GUARANTEED!)

• Even NOW … who has absolute and complete information?

• In a worst-case scenario, who besides the President will bear full blame?

Currently the left and media is saying he caused deaths by not closing down sooner; however, no one is coming back and saying, but how many lives did I save by closing down when I did even while being called a racist, etc.

The left are going to blame President first, then Pence. I think Fauci will be protected (look at how it is protected even now on the news with not showing his contradictory statements early on). Fauci is friend of Clinton’s, Pelosi, etc.

Hmmmm. Has anyone seen Pelosi out in public lately?

They’re already saying that “it worked.” I don’t see any sort of blame going around that’s going to be widely acknowledged, except by the voiceless people who have been severely harmed.

I have come to the realization that this whole shutdown was mostly because of hype. Looking back on the polio scourge in the early 50’s, nothing like a shutdown occurred. It was communicable. It caused death. It caused people to have to live out their lives in an iron lung. It caused people to have to live out their lives using a wheelchair or crutches. And even if someone did survive with little backlash (apparently) on their health, the future could bring another reactivation of the virus in Post Polio Syndrome (obviously this wasn’t known in the 50’s).

People went about their lives using precautions. I remember the first polio vaccine, the Salk shot vaccine. And I remember the Sabin vaccine, put on sugar cubes, in the early 60’s. There was no actual panic, maybe because the Media was in it’s infancy in needing acclaim for just doing their jobs. TV was pretty new, but I don’t remember the ‘anchors’ being overly animated when reporting on this disease.

A neighbor was in an iron lung, a teenager. I also had a friend who suffered from Post Polio Syndrome. He died in his 70’s and had a good life despite some infirmities with his walking. When this country wakes up and finds that we were played (to a large extent) there will be a repercussion. Against whom I’m not sure. But someone will reap the whirlwind......and soon.

I heard a radio show this morning that was talking about this, and will it hurt the President’s re-election chances. Here’s how I see it: President Trump inherited a crappy economy from Obama, and within 18 months he’d turned it around. I think the American people will believe he can do it again when this passes.

There is no benefit in the blame game. People in "cover your ass" mode do not fix problems, they only make sure that someone else gets the blame.

There are many identified problems that need fixing. Focus on fixing them. You can't fix the past, but you can learn from the past to make a better future.

At my Ground Zero, we're already receiving weekly praise for everyone "working" from home.

I'm essential expendable, so those don't apply to me.

In late March, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington released a model that projected more than 80,000 deaths, assuming the U.S. maintained its lockdown, which prompted the Trump administration to extend the shutdown through April.

The Bill Gates funded IHME model pushed by Fauci and Birx was intended to stampede Trump into destroying the county's greatest economy ever, the crown jewel of the Trump administration. Mission accomplished.
