Spent a LOT of time in and around Auburn...always a favorite of mine.
Spent many a weekend as a teen panning for gold and fishing in the American River.
Was 19 when I started work in one of the tunnels on the upper American River project, Long Ridge Tunnel, in the early 1960’s. Auburn was the nearest town of any size, (Forest Hill didn’t count as a town) and Auburn was pretty crazy in those days.
