It’s been online for days. I checked it out last week to see what verification methods there were using.
You didn't check it out very well. The only ones currently allowed to use the portal are non-filers.

Lower income: Among those who could use Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info tool are those who haven't filed a 2018 or 2019 return because they are under the normal income limits for filing a tax return. This may include single filers who made under $12,200 and married couples making less than $24,400 in 2019.”
The get your payment portal is what will allow the rest of us to enter our direct deposit info so that we do not have to wait until some time in August.
"Use the "Get My Payment" application (coming mid-April) to: Check your payment status Confirm your payment type: direct deposit or check Enter your bank account information for direct deposit if we don't have your direct deposit information and we haven't sent your payment yet"
The portal for people who file taxes went live this morning.
