Over 80 million Americans are expected to receive a stimulus check by the end of this week as part of the first wave of payments, the Treasury Department said this week.
The Department expects a large majority of eligible Americans will get their payments in the next two weeks.
While some have received theirs already, those who are still waiting for one will soon be able to track it online. Americans will also be able to provide the Internal Revenue Service with their direct deposit information if its not on file with the agency.
If you do not receive them by Wednesday, youll be able to put in your direct deposit information, and within several days, we will automatically deposit the money into your account, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Monday. We want to do as much of this electronically as we can.
The agency expects to release an online Get My Payment tool on its website by the end of the week that tracks the status of your stimulus check. The tool will let people follow the scheduled payment date for either a direct deposit or mailed check.
The tool will also allow people to provide their bank account details to get their payment by direct deposit versus waiting for a mailed check, which dont go out until the end of April. If you filed a tax return in 2018 or 2019 but didnt provide direct deposit information, youll be able to identify yourself, input that banking information, and receive the payment in several days in your account, according to Mnuchin.
As part of a $2 trillion coronavirus relief package, many Americans will get government checks up to $1,200 plus $500 per child to help them ride out a job loss, reduced work hours...

Haven’t heard such here in Texas, which doesn’t bother me since I am working. The insurance companies have to pretty much work from home as far as new policies which is a pain.
I’ll take mine in toilet paper.
Because it can go both ways."
I agree with you 100 percent. Yet me and the wife are finding increasing obstacles to conducting business by traditional cash and paper checks. The lockdown is accelerating the shift to e-commerce.

Awesome.
Just got an email from our agent in Michigan. They represent several companies and a rebate of some kind is coming.
“My son and his family got theres yesterday.”
So did my daughter and her family—they are a military family—USAF—I’m hoping all the military ones went out first!
My auto insurance company has reduced rates by 5% for April and May.
If we get anything it’ll go to utility bills. We may not be allowed to shut anyone off right now but I’m sure our collections dept will be working double-time when this is all over.
Fine with me. If they have my info to deposit, they also can withdraw. No, thank you.
Zactly.
You didn't check it out very well. The only ones currently allowed to use the portal are non-filers.
“This new tool is designed for people who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019 and who don't receive Social Security retirement, disability (SSDI), or survivor benefits or Railroad Retirement benefits.
Others who should consider the Non-Filers tool as an option, include:
Lower income: Among those who could use Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info tool are those who haven't filed a 2018 or 2019 return because they are under the normal income limits for filing a tax return. This may include single filers who made under $12,200 and married couples making less than $24,400 in 2019.”
The get your payment portal is what will allow the rest of us to enter our direct deposit info so that we do not have to wait until some time in August.
"Use the "Get My Payment" application (coming mid-April) to: Check your payment status Confirm your payment type: direct deposit or check Enter your bank account information for direct deposit if we don't have your direct deposit information and we haven't sent your payment yet"
why military first?....just asking....are they not getting paid ?....the money is supposed to help those who are not getting paid first and foremost....I hope they get the checks first...
We got ours - actually came with the wife’s SS deposit which was a day early - should have been today but came yesterday.
My daughter is a Sgt in the Army deployed to Kuwait and she sent me a text yesterday asking me if I wanted her stimulus money that had just direct deposited (she’s always worried about me haha) Apparently, everyone in her unit was surprised to get money in their accounts. But I told her I was fine and didn’t need her money ;D
The portal for people who file taxes went live this morning.

Your reply was correct when you posted it.
The ‘Get My Payment’ portal went live this morning.
Unfortunately, many if not most people who use it are getting a message that says that the IRS cannot determine your eligibility at this time, even though all most people want to do is add their direct deposit information. Hopefully this will be straightened out shortly.
One of the few cases where being ineligible is a GOOD thing! Glad you're doing well.
I got that same message.
These last few weeks have been a workshop on patience.
