State Rep. Vernon Jones bucked his party Tuesday and endorsed President Donald Trump, making him the first state elected Democratic official in Georgia to back the Republicans bid for a second term.
A polarizing figure in Georgia politics, the DeKalb County legislator told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was not switching parties but that he views Trump as a transformative figure who has helped African American voters, military veterans and farmers with his policies. Its very simple to me. President Trumps handling of the economy, his support for historically black colleges and his criminal justice initiatives drew me to endorse his campaign, Jones said. This is not about switching parties. There are a lot of African Americans who clearly see and appreciate hes doing something thats never been done before, Jones added. When you look at the unemployment rates among black Americans before the pandemic, they were at historic lows. Thats just a fact.

This man is a real leader.
Good for him. This appears to be a man of courage.
Given the choice of a senile, oil, corrupt, career politician, and President Trump, it’s an easy choice.
I can see Artie Johnson saying, “Verrry interesting”...
Wahoo!...welcome aboard Representative!
It is refreshing to see a politician who can be honest.
I can also see him getting a copy of his “file” with a friendly but very firm reminder about who is above him in zee party.
All kinds of encouraging news lately!
“...he views Trump as a transformative figure who has helped African American voters...”
That’s two black politicians who have come out supportive of President Trump in the last week. Maybe it’s a trend...
Vernon is questionable as could be. There are many who believe the only reason he didnt get nailed along with Bill Campbell 20 years ago is that the Feds were coming after him next, and 9/11 happened, and it got back-burnered.
That said, this is very, very interesting.
I have a feeling he will not be coerced - else he wouldn’t have made the announcement/statements.
If so, that makes him a rare breed.
Very interesting. This guy will surely be expelled from the Rat Party so it seems likely he’ll become a Republican.
Don’t let the Clinton hear about this. Mr. Jones days would be numbered.
He endorsed Shrub for President in 2004. This ain’t his first time at the Republican Rodeo. But he doesn’t run as a Republican because he couldn’t get elected. Not in moonbat DeKalb County.
A man with a backbone.
DeKalb County black Democrats will kick him out. He’ll be seen as a uncle Tom. He’s finished.
He is when he’s willing to buck the party line.
