This happened not far from where I live. Knoxville is odd regarding diversity. There are the traditional rednecks who hate everybody. But, there seems to be a significant part of the population that falls all over itself to be the least prejudiced in the room.
There are quite a few muslims here and, from my observation, they are treated quite well.
I have read that there are parts of the South where people feel so much shame for slavery that they go to extremes to prove that they’re not raaaaaaayyyyyyyyccccccccciiiiiiiiiissssssssssssts.
