Count professional wrestling among the essential businesses like grocery stores and pharmacies that can stay open despite coronavirus-related restrictions statewide.
WWE will continue taping and airing live from the empty WWE Performance Center near Orlando even during the states month-long shelter-in-place, which Gov. Ron DeSantis announced April 1.
At a press conference Monday, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings was asked whether WWE would continue operations. He said that WWE was not originally deemed an essential business, a designation allowing it to stay open during the states shelter-in-place order. However, a conversation with DeSantis changed that.

Good time to watch the movie “THEY LIVE” again, nice pro wrestling scene in there
“Count professional wrestling among the essential businesses like grocery stores and pharmacies”
LOL
Desantis is a joke. He was definitely the lesser of two evils and I’m still stunned he didn’t investigate Gillum after the election. That guy belongs in prison.
It’s not the business essential it’s the size of the check.
How else would we keep Florida Man and Florida Woman entertained and out of trouble?
Your response is Juvenile and that’s being kind. The man’s statewide Approval Rating was Governor is ~80% last I saw which was a few months ago.
Name another Governor with such a high Approval Rating in a Swing State?
Simply stating Desantis is a joke puts you on the same level as Libs who state Trump is a Racist because he is.
Real estate agents are deemed essential as well. Given how important the economy is, every business no matter what it is that can find a way to mitigate and still function should be deemed essential and kept running.
It’s foolish to close businesses, parks and so on just to please those who think it unfair their urban congested areas have more restrictions than ag areas and suburbs where mitigation is already normal. We live in these rural areas to get away from busybodies, nanny staters, snoops and narks, after all.
His approval rating has crashed thanks to the beating by the press.
“Well ya know Mean Gene and all my little Trumpsters out there....watcha gonna do McMahon when the 24 inch pythons of Donald J. Trump run wild on youuuuuuuuuuu!?”
What is it currently? And, please provide a link to evidence.
Well it is fake, so they could choreograph it where they stay far enough away from each other theyre not exposed.
Now is a good time to lay off the meth.
If pot stores are “essential”, then why not other things?
Desantis seemed to have so much potential. Has been a dud in many ways IMO.
But I think he made the right call in the WWE events. Or are we going to keep private enterprises shutdown like Venezuela and Cuba?
Heck, Bernie must think he can retire now that his life is near - no jobs, food lines, government dependency.
If WWE/wrestling doesn’t endanger any spectators, etc., (only the wrestlers), than why shouldn’t it be done in a safe environment and put on tv/cable, podcasts, etc?
It will give more people work and keep them off the unemployment rolls.
I’m all for it. LOVE TORRI WILSON to death!!
The concept of “essential” was wrong from the beginning. Any job that puts food on a family’s table is “essential” to that family. Some professions are much more risky than others as disease vectors, and if they could take steps to mitigate the risk to others of spreading the disease needlessly, they should get to stay running or running with mitigation procedures in place.
Schools are essential, but they’re also great places to spread disease. A golf course isn’t essential, but it is easy to play a round of golf without spreading disease.
Especially since they put Tampa under a 5 pm curfew.
Amidst all of this, in Florida there are tens of thousands of people crying “when will we begin to see our unemployment money?”
