I swear I had it mid March. My husband never caught it. I’m so done with it.
Olympic swimmer opens up on coronavirus battle: 'The worst virus I have ever endured'
The way I look at it is that our president did a great job, he mitigated 2 million plus deaths to around 20K, that is awesome. We were learning about this on the fly, China and the WHO were totally worthless and in some cases suspects/act of war.
I don’t think it was a hoax. I would rather not get this and find out that long term this thing does serious damage to you. We don’t know everything about this virus. And the Chinese are suspiciously quiet about it now.
It doesn’t
I never said anything about whether it was worth it or not. That’s for society to decide. You’ve given your opinion. That’s fine.
I’m just saying it was not a flu. It was an unusually contagious and virulent killer, especially in high population density areas with significant mass transit usage. It easily could’ve overwhelmed the system there. I’m not sure it needed to be done in other places the same way.
Because there are those that have tested positive that had no symptoms at all. The vast majority in that category would never seek out a test.
All seasonal flu estimates are anecdotal. The number of cases is always estimated.
“I forget. When was the last time the flu was killing 800 people per day in New York city?”
Well in 1918, the flu killed 450 a day in NYC, and pneumonia killed killed another 350 a day during the same 10-day time period. (I wonder how many of the pneumonia cases would today be counted as “flu-related?”) Even without the pneumonia cases counted, the per-capita rate was still higher. And 675,000 Americans died.

“Right now, US CFR is about 4.6%. Worldwide, about 6.2%.”
Why you gotta be like that. The Flubros gotta flubro.
You’re messing up their entire thread with reality.
As fun as it is to watch “Economists” play Doctor, how about we get them to get off their butts and show us all how their economic “models” work:
1) What does America’s economic recovery look like with different levels of “lockdown”? Like some jobs back, no large crowds like sports, hotels back but with limited service, same for restaurants. Provide the full matrix. Dazzle us with the “science”.
2) Same with this happening in different States to mixed levels.
3) Same with urban hot-spots staying locked down.
4) All of the above with Europe in varying levels of lock-down.
5) Same with and without China in the picture at all.
6) Show us “models” of what Sweden’s approach is giving them.
Then show us the “model” of what the economy does if we screw-up coming out of this and infections start rising again in hot-spots or where the disease has not been bad so far.
See, as much as I can see of what the medical profession does not know of this situation, it is absolutely clear to me that the economists know far less.
“plus 300 people died every day in new york normally....”
But not 800+ of a single cause. That is about as legitimate a health emergency as you can get.
There is nothing rational about shutting the economy down for more than a few weeks, let alone until we get a vaccine or until we have no new cases.
Even blue state governors are beginning to realize their residents aren't going to tolerate that.
“To me the flubros are as obnoxious and boring as someone like Jim Acosta. “
It’s not news that 80-85% of people get the ChiCom Virus and see only mild impact not needing hospitalization.
It’s the last 5-10% that need hospitalization and of them several percent are at risk of death depending on a host of underlying illnesses from hypertension, diabetes to obesity.
The concern was those people in not the best of health and there are a lot of them, could flood the hospitals and completely took out the health care system.
Of course, the Flubros don’t put any of that in context. That’s why they are Flubros.
Flubros gotta flubro and make light of everything and mock everyone.
They don’t care that thousands of Americans are dead across the country in a short time. They just want to yack, shout ignorance and say to anyone who will listen “It’s just like the flu.”
No data or thousands of additional deaths will stop them from doing this. Daily.
There was never enough information to justify death claims of two million in the US. Yet, those estimates were believed and millions put out of work.
What’s this “we” stuff? ;-)
It's beyond dishonest to quote the death rate in confirmed cases for this virus and use the estimated percentage for the seasonal flu.
Yep.
Wrong. The models assumed mitigation... They were all spectacularly incorrect.
