My estimate is 3X-5X a bad recent Flu like Swine, not due to the lethality but the ease of spread. We’ll find out. It can’t be contained and we all need to plan to get it over the next 12 months.

Swine would kill fitness instructors but didn’t spread as quickly/easily (I got it, wife and kid didn’t).

The Wuhan spreads further than a smell and likes to kill fatties. A Double Chin seems to increase chance of death by 20X.

Have not seen Wuhan take down a fitness instructor (without AIDs, cancer, etc), yet. When it does, the MSM will let us all know, that day.

At the time some decisions were made, many numbers were unknown. We only had China to go by. We knew they were lying but probably by some multiplier vastly undercounting cases and deaths.

If walking through a room has a 9 out of 10 chance of NOT killing you, you don't walk through the room.

You can't say 'I told you so' based on things you know now that you didn't know 4 weeks ago.

That said, most rational people find it obvious that it's time to open the country to those who either have antibodies or are willing to risk getting it, and that became obvious a couple weeks ago.

If you were a flubro 6 weeks ago, you're an idiot. If you're a fearbro now, you're also causing yourself needless suffering. But there are still unknowns. If this thing hits the nervous system, some who recovered quickly may experience lasting effects. Probably not, but I'm not ready to go french kiss a hot babe who has it.

The SMARTBROS treated this with respect rather than fear from the beginning - like 10 weeks ago - perhaps by buying things like sanitizer early and perhaps by removing their money from the market. Never did a smartbros feel panic or even fear, he knew it would likely turn out OK but had a rational chance of going south. Then, the smartbro would have repurchased the very stock he sold, along with some other overly depressed stocks, near the bottom.

How many of the the flubros were smartbros? Flubros like to talk a lot, and pick on and bully those they think are easy pickings. I think they are kind of pussyboys.

I'll stick with the rational bros and the smart bros.

As for anyone who is still panicked and doesn't have good reason like compromised immune system or a relative or friend in that position: for you ... I kind of feel sorry for you. It's going to be fine.

But I still read as much as I can about this little commie flu. It's probably just the flu, certainly the death numbers will be, but there's still a lot we don't know about its mechanisms in the body, where it travels, what it binds to, what traces it leaves, any long term effects. Smart to be aware and not fearful.

Given what Trump knew when he knew it and as that information changed, I'm not sure anyone could have done any better.

Absolutely right. Too many people keep posting these articles trying to pretend this thing isn't dangerous, and we don't have nearly enough information to confirm some of these outlandish claims.

We know this thing is dangerous, because a lot of people are dying from it. Too many out there are just wishing it away, and they shouldn't be taken seriously.

With so many people flying these days, both domestically and internationally, I doubt you can say that a virus can't spread "so fast to so many people" based on "mathematics and biology of disease transmission." Just a hunch, but probably just as valid as your assertions. :)

playing devils advocate, its also possible that many deaths came early in Dec, Nov. january...and were not tested for covid....but that would also mean that covid was much more pervasive in our country..

 

Can't speak for other jurisdictions but I'm certain that's how it went in my locale. People were coming down with something that had oddly aggressive symptoms, like breathing issues and a long arc of time to get over. I recall a lot of ambulance runs during that period and the story was always the same - persons with fever, difficulty breathing, typically elderly or younger persons with pre-existing health issues. I recall thinking at the time that there sure was a lot of pneumonia going on. Those ambulance runs finally petered out through February into March. Now it's just for the usual stuff like assaults, suicide attempts, falls and auto accidents. What's aggravating about continuing this shutdown strategy is that the virus drama has already rampaged through here like a hurricane and gone long before anyone made a move at declaring any emergency actions. There's nothing left to do now except loosen up restrictions.
